Second Razor - for traveling?

So, I entered the world of DE shaving a while ago and all is going well(ish). My question now is; do I buy a second DE razor to keep on in my travel bag?

I am not buying another handle to have a collection, I am looking specifically for one to take with me traveling. Ignoring the whole blades on a plane thing, is there anything particular I should look for in such a razor?

I currently have a plastic cover that covers the razor head (and blade) to keep it safer that it would otherwise be, I'm not sure what people's view are on those sort of things?

For a couple of years my only DE was a Merkur 34C so I bought one of their travel razors, a 46C, which uses the same head profile. It came in a leather case that also safely holds a pack of blades.

I've used it on holidays and nights away several times and can recommend it as a light weight option.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm not worried about the weight of the thing (if 70g makes the difference to my luggage, I have bigger problems than my razor!). I'm more concerned about transporting a razor without it damaging anything, or anything damaging it...

The only reason I'm planning on have a dedicated traveling one is to make packing that much easier by reducing an item I need to use in the morning before I go - especially as I'd want to make sure it was dry before packing it.

I suppose it depends where you are going....I would not take an expensive razor if I was camping for instance just incase I left it in the wash house, and even in some hotels ...would you trust the maid with your £250 + razor? No way! Take something inexpensive just to be sure. :)

I travel a lot for work..and used to take cheaper DE'S (Feather Popular, Gillette Tech) Now however, I take whatever I fancy..
This week I will be packing either a blackbird or an ATT. If you want a second travel razor it should be quite easy to obtain something cheap and efficient to throw in your washbag.

Merkur 45c is my choice.
Its a great razor & nothing to corrode being Bakelite, so if I pack it away not 100% dry & it sits in my bag for 3 days, no worries.

I travel fairly often so for me it was an excuse to buy another razor.
For an annual holiday or visiting family, there's a lot to be said for keeping it simple & taking what you use at home. Its the soap & brush that take up the room.
I used to use a brush less cream, now I take a small synth brush & Palmolive stick, there is a loreal after shave gel that is very convenient too.
