I bought this razor for the handle (cheers Paul), also thinking it was Treet's version of a 1912.
But when I received it, I noticed the safety bar was actually more akin to a Clog Pruf than a 1912. I don't know which came first, the MMCP or the Treet. If anyone could tell me, I would appreciate it.
Well after all that waffle, you might want to know how it shaved?
Not bad, very smooth but it struggled with the grey sections of my stubble and it wouldn't be my choice as a daily driver.

This lovely shave was originally planned for yesterday. But I was too upset due to our beloved cat Miranda having to be put to sleep on New year's Day. Her other back leg suffered the same affliction which resulted in the amputation last July. This gave us no other choice.
So sorry @Electrif. We've been through it in the past couple of years with our cats. It's not easy.

3/1/18

Soap - Lea Stick (tallow)
Brush - Yaqi Tuxedo Barbershop
Razor - DE89
Blade - Lord Platinum (6)
Post - Ben's Bay Rum

The tallow Lea Shave stick really produces a superb lather, nice smelling as well. Somewhat perplexed why it was discontinued.

Greetings

I strongly suspect it is simply cost, beef and mutton tallow I would expect to be more costly than the veggie alternatives, there is a huge move across the cosmetic industry to phase out tallow based products especially as more and more consumers are seeking what they believe (and perhaps they are correct) to be a more eco friendly/animal friendly alternative. Possibly this also lessens demand and further drives up the price of tallow, quite how you reconcile this with the argument that if you are going to slaughter these animals for the table then the tallow will in any case be available for use; whatever that use may be.

I would add that Lea discontinued their tallow shave sticks about five or six years back and then reintroduced them as a result of popular demand within a year, this issue has clearly been on their minds for a long time. I surmise they have done their maths and believe they will gain more customers than they will lose.

I would not be at all surprised to see all mainstream soap producers follow the same path within the next few years leaving only small batch producers/artisan makers to use tallow if they choose; if this does transpire to be the case it will be very sad as my personal two favourites (Tabac and Speick) are both tallow based.

Regards
Dick.

Hi Arthur,
Sorry about the loss of your family friend, but prolonging suffering is not good.

My condolences. I had to make just that decision a couple of years back with my little Dana. 2nd January 2015.

Take time to grieve. Go easy.
