Super Gillette Blue Blades

Having tried one of these last year that came with an extremely low priced & modern made Gillette Tech DE razor from China I rolled the dice on Ebay and ordered two tucks that took damn near a month to arrive recently from China. Well, after closely examining them and shaving with one three times so far I am thoroughly convinced they are authentic. I say this as Ebay orders from China can be fraught with fear of counterfeit goods.

Again, I am simply awestruck with what Gillette is cranking out from China. Their Gillette Wilkinson Sword made there just blows away that version made in India IMO. This blade is at least as good and who doesn't like to try a new & different blade, especially one by Gillette? ;)

Luckily for the DE shavers in the U.K. it seems as if one vendor is stocking these gems and for a mere pittance if they are indeed authentic, of which I do not know. I have no affiliation with this vendor as well so I am not shilling for him. Regardless, I would like to hear other shavers' opinions on this blade.

Are these Silver Blue? I tried different blades from a sample pack and they are by far the best. So comfortable that you barely know you are shaving. The famous Japanese Feathers are very rough by comparison.

I got a few tucks of these blades and found them to be sharp and reasonably smooth, makes a change to shave with a DE blade not made in Russia , I've sent a couple of tucks to @Benz3ne to try, I'm sure he will get back to me with an opinion regarding them.

I'm sure I will! I'm anticipating delivery of them today and need a shave tonight so will report back later this evening! It'll be paired with a relatively aggressive Thomas Clipper SS DE, so my direct comparison will be to Feather New Hi-Stainless (a couple of tucks of which I've sent to Blademonkey :p ). I'll chuck up a mini-review of them here but will definitely have some breakdown on my SOTD :)

No, they are not the Silver Blue blade which is made in Russia.
 
My SOTD has a quick breakdown of these blades. I found it beyond tuggy for the first pass - felt each individual hair being pinged out. Thereafter, it was pretty darned smooth. Glad I persevered rather than give up after the first pass. Pretty harmless and left me smooth and irritation free. :)

Something isn't right then. What was your prep & soap? Can you post a photo of the blade & it's packaging, please?
 
Prep is a cold water wash and rinse, I "wring out" my beard by squeezing lightly on my chin but a lot of water sticks around there.
Soap was new but slick as hell so feel that wouldn't have caused any issue per se. Edit; it's the gentlemans face care club cream, it's particularly well touted on here and I can see why.
Blade and packaging below. I've disposed of this one's wax paper but it had v little on it from what I remember;

Marks on blade are from the shave yesterday. I cleaned up the razor and rinsed off the blade but didn't want to physically wash it post-shave.
 
The only explanation I have is, if they have been sat around a little while then my first pass utilised a duller edge so acted as a strop/refresh. Thereafter the blade was as it should be as second pass onwards the blade was remarkably smooth and forgiving. One of the better shaves I've had.

Like I said previously, I think it could have been a marginally dull edge - it just didn't cut quite as efficiently as others I've tried previously for the first pass only. If it was like the second pass from the outset, I wouldn't have ever contemplated changing out the blade at any point!
I can trial it with a different soap but I'm tempted to stick with this one and see what my next tidy-up with this blade, soap and razor is like. If it is as smooth as silk from the get-go, then it (in my eyes, at least) further solidifies my theory! :)
 
All modern Gillette blades have treated super high tech sputtered edges and aren't going to deteriorate sitting in the box in less than junglelike conditions where they can rust. Try a hot water shower & shave with a top shelf tallow soap and leave the Luddite cold water stuff to the celibate monks. ;) :D

Eugh, hot water shaves! :D I've found since switching to exclusively cold water shaves that I'm far less prone to irritation, ingrowns, cuts, nicks, weepers and suchlike. Plus, I live in Wales so hot water is a novelty! :D I jest, but I do far prefer a cold one!
I'll probably try out either OSP Barbershop or P&B Imperial Rum depending on how I feel with one of my next ones, or with the next fresh blade I get stuck into. I did thoroughly enjoy yesterday's shave cream, however. Very nice.
 
Benz3ne, I used this blade yesterday (shave #2) in a pre-war Canadian Tech and with Haslinger Schafmilch and I would have been hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a Russian 7 O'Clock blade as the shave was that damn good. Try it in a milder razor if you have one. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water quite yet. ;)

Don't worry I won't! I'll be trying the other packet I received and if that's a crap blade I'm sure Blademonkey will work it out with the vendor. :)
I'll maybe give it a go in my Aluminium Tech but in my favoured DE with the last two blades it most certainly left a lot to be desired!

How long have you been going with the cold water shaves? I've had one try but seemed to get a couple of weepers on the first pass.

I've seen a few folks mention it on various forums, so any advice would be appreciated.
