Shave of the day Saturday 9th Sept - Friday 15th Sept 2017

What is now modern Scotland was about to become a province in the late 1st century AD when the Romans left for the first time. Problems elsewhere in the empire. We Scots like to think we were just too much trouble for them. :)
Same as us Germans. ;):)
There is a great documentary about the whole history of Roman conquest of Britain. You Brits gave them a hard time, too.
God save Boudica. ;):)

Evening gentlemen,
Well I surpassed myself tonight with my complete recklessness with a razor!
I genuinely have a pool of blood in my right ear lobe??? Chin several good nicks, pouring blood from just under my nose.
Did not feel any of these happen, so the Gillette silver blue ss must be sharp?
Anyway, first use of the tobs jermyn street cream, lovely stuff, abundant lather, gorgeous aroma, can't rate highly enough.
The floid preshave I was so lucky to acquire as a pif, feels quite good, not as good a job as executive shaves pre shave, and boy does it smell funky! Really could not put my finger on what the smell reminds me of, but weird comes to mind. :)
The blood flow seems to be slowing now.
So, an enjoyable shave, and thorough, albeit bloody.

I didn't know whether to "like" this or not.
I don't usually condone bloodsports. ;)

It sure is an amazing piece of British industrial design. Smooth handle but I don't struggle with it when wet. Mild, smooth, comfortable shave. What's not to like? :) I got this one from @Dreamer.
You did well, I would love one in mint condition boxed but I know that I would have to pay a King's ransom for it! :)

sotd 13th SEPT.JPG
Pre Shave: Hot Shower + L'Oreal Pure Power Charcoal Face Wash and Proraso Green
Razor: iKon El Jefe + SE Handle
Blade: Kai Luffy (#2)
Brush: Plisson Pure Badger
Soap: D.R. Harris Arlington stick
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphreys Witch Hazel
AS: Lab Series Balm

Not sure what happened to the blade in the iKon El Jefe, I had loaded the blade a while ago and the razor was stored in a thick leather pouch. During the first stroke I felt a scratch on my skin at one end of the razor, no blood drawn or any noticable marks, I tried another stroke and it was the same. I gently touched the end of the blade where I could feel the scratch, and I could feel the blade had been damaged somehow. I popped the head open and felt the blade gently and it seemed the guard was damaged and a small part was sticking up. I popped the blade back in the other way up and tightened the head, not easy to with wet hands and had to repeat as I had the loose blade syndrome on my first go. With the razor all back together there was no sharp bit now so I proceeded to shave again.

End result was an excellent shave, I took 3 passes but the result was excellent. The Kai luffy blade has now been binned.

Evening shave.

Nivea Face Wash, BBA Shave Oil, bloom water.
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements CaD.
Maseto 30mm 2 Band Finest (face lathered).
Timeless .95 Solid Bar (on loan).
Astra SP (1).
Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented).
Fine American Blend Aftershave.
Aloe Vera Gel.

The Timeless is a fine razor. I was very nearly BBS after 2 passes. I certainly was after 3. Have a good evening chaps.

Wednesday's shave :)

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap face wash, followed by Myrsol pre/post Shave Emulsion.
Razor - Blackland Sabre-SE.
Blade - GEM PTFE (Day 4).
Soap - Executive Shaving Natural Shave Cream.
Bowl - Little Wren.
Brush - Simpsons Duke 2 Best Badger.
Post shave - Myrsol "Lemon" Post Shave Splash.

A great, no amazing shave. 3 pass BBS. Very enjoyable, relaxed, good audio feedback.

I love the Sabre-SE: easy to find and maintain the shave angle, a joy to use. Of course, YMMV.

My next SEptember razor, will be the Rocnel-SE, with the corners suitably filled off of the GEM blade.

All the best,

Chris

Wickham 1912 Citrus Musk
RazoRock 400 Plissoft Noir
Merkur 39c/Astra SP (3)
Wickham 1912 Irish Fern balm
Fendi Di Fendi Absoluto EDT

Three passes for a BBS finish.
It's always a pleasure to use Wickham soaps. The balm is a good performer too.
One small weeper above my top lip, nothing a final cold rinse couldn't control.
A few sprays of Fendi left me smelling good.

Wednesday evening

Cream - Proraso M & E
Brush - RazoRock BC 24mm Silvertip
Bowl - Proraso
Razor - Feather Artist Club Kamisori
Blade - Feather Professional
Post - Alum and BBA post shave balm

Nice shave tonight. I tried the razor with a slightly shallower angle to my face (not quite at right angle, but a bit more than the recommended thirty degrees) and it worked well. One tiny weeper, but cold water and alum did the trick. 2 passes (with and across) and a third against, but only on the chops.

I love the RazoRock Acrylic Silvertip. A lovely brush. Whilst I wouldn't give up my boars, I really dig the synths.

By the way, the BBA post shave balm is a bit of a revelation, what?

Razor: Alumigoose w/ Custom made Aluminum Handle Britian
Blade: KAI Captain Titan (6)
Brush: DFS LE Nathan Clark Envy White Handle Aluminum Color, Anodized Dark Bronze. #41/150
Soap: Reef Point Soap Admiralty
A/S: Lucky Tiger, Old Spice
Decanter: Old Spice Ship's Flask Flying Cloud 1985 ID #3630
Bowl: TDG Maple Cherry Ribbed #8

The razor only weighs a total of 54.6 grams so I was a little worried it wouldn't have the weight to give a close shave. Wrong again. The handle was 37.8 grams and felt smooth. It was not slippery at all. The brush and TDG bowl whipped up the Reef Point Soap Admiralty soap in no time into and beautiful lather. I can safely say that this is a buy again soap. The Flying Cloud is one of my favorite Old Spice decanters. A little photo heavy. :)
