New Maseto brush

I'm happy with the results. I've loaded for a longer period and I got more lather.
I've shaken the brush a couple of times and I've also let it absorb the bloom water. It did foam a lot while loading. I've scooped the foam and put it in the bowl. I've also loaded the sides of the brush. I've added a few drops of water twice while whipping in the bowl.

Sounds like "the Marco method" reproduced below for your convenience...

1. Run your brush under hot water (or simply soak it) for at least 30 seconds.

2. Turn your brush upside-down WITHOUT shaking it. Allow only the gravity water to fall down and move your brush carefully, since it has to be kept full of water.

3. Start making swirls on the surface of the soap. You have to proceed slowly, without pressure on the brush. Remember that it's very wet.

4. Heavily load your brush for about 45/60 seconds making around 100/120 swirls. Please keep in mind that the loading time and number of swirls also depend on how big your brush is and how much water it can retain.

5. Move the brush onto your face and face lather. Again, be careful, you'll have a LOT of lather to handle.

6. While face lathering add, slowly and progressively, a few drops of water per time to your brush. Or, alternatively, lightly wet the tips of the brush. I personally prefer to add drops of water to the brush because I have a better control of the soap/water ratio.

7. You bring the lather to the right consistency.

*** The main concept to always keep in mind is simple: a lot of water + a lot of swirls + a lot of soap = a lot of great, thick, slick and effective lather. ***

"I learned this technique from an old Italian Master Barber with over 40 years of experience and I've been using it with great results for almost 16 years."

Of course its not just for face lathering and works equally well in a bowl. Apologies if this confuses, if in doubt ignore this and just follow Wayne's advice :)
No no, all are welcome to the party lets help this chap build a great lather its what we are here for

Great news I'm sure you will go on to produce great lathers from now on. You'll get to know what works for you. Well done.

Well my 30mm fan shape in horn arrived today and it seems very well put together with a lovely, even knot. Trouble is, I'm not convinced about the horn. Perhaps, I should have listened to my inner plain Jane and just ordered ivory. I swear, I am the very epitome of indecision! Or am I? Not sure now....

Do you good chaps think it would be bad form to send it all the way back to China just for a colour change otr should I stop mumping and just getting on with it.

Good to hear @Eurofighter is getting his lather issues resolved with better advice than I could ever give. Spoiled by wonderfully soft Scottish water, so I am.

It'll grow on you, give it time.

Now, it is probably in this thread somewhere but I've looked and may have missed it but how soft is the silvertip compared the two band? My Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic has spoiled me for softness and the two band Maseto is rather scrubbier so I was considering silvertip instead? I very much like the look of the Atlanta with silvertip in butterscotch. Seems they have captured the colour well. I don't want plain yellow but neither do I want orangey caramel like some of the American brushes.

I have both and the Silvertip is a lot softer. Here's my thoughts on the Silvertip http://theshavingroom.co.uk/communi...ons-maseto-24mm-silvertip-badger-brush.44229/

My new Silvertip with barberhandle keeps losing hair. Beautiful brush, soft and densily packed but after five uses it has shed almost 15 to 20 hairs. Is that normal for a new brush?
