RazoRock 400
OSP Barber Shop soap
1958 D4 Fatboy 5~8
Astra SP (3)
Lime witch hazel
Nivea 2 Phase Aftershave
Aloe Vera gel
Calvin Klein Eternity Summer EdT

Second use of the Fatboy and it's growing on me. Very smooth, but I find it needs cranking up to get a close shave.
It's 10 Celsius outside so I'm going with a summer scent !

Good weekend to all

SOTD 10/03/2018

I recently ordered several shaving creams samples to try and find a favourite.

I ordered:

Cyril R Salter French Vetiver
D R Harris Arlington
Meissner-Tremonia Moroccan Rhassoul
OSP Barber Shop
Proraso Wood & Spice

Going to be testing these over the next few weeks and will try to keep all variables constant, save for the cream itself.

Gave the GF a choice for the first test and she picked the Cyril R Salter French Vetiver.

Pre-Shave: Exfoliating face wash followed by a 3-minute hot towel.
Pre-Shave Cream: Proraso sensitive
Shave Cream: Cyril R Salter French Vetiver.
Razor: Ikon Tech loaded with a fresh Polsiver SI.
Brush: Semouge 1305 Boar
Post-Shave: Cold face wash followed by Mind Your Tone Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel and Rose Water toner. Finished with Xspec unscented aftershave balm.

I had high hopes for the this cream. From the research I had done, I think the general consensus is that it is a good value cream with good performance. The scent though is apparently hit and miss.

I absolutely loved the scent of this cream and the scent got better as I started to face lather.

Unfortunately, the scent is the only good point I found for this cream.

I really struggled to lather this cream. The first attempt went too watery and the second attempt went too dry. I had a big problem dialling in the right amount of water. I finally got a lather that was reasonably happy with and started the shave.

Began with the neck and after I had finished the neck, the lather started to get dry and clumpy. I knew I was heading towards irritation city, especially with the aggressive Ikon Tech. Quickly rinsed off the Cyril cream and picked up my back up cream, Proraso sensitive.

I had a much better shave with the Proraso and this became apparent when I used the toner. Slight stinging on the neck area where I used the Cyril cream and not stinging whatsoever where I used the Proraso sentive.

I don't think I will use this cream again which is a real shame as I loved the scent. May try some lather tests on it to see if I can get the lather right before condemning it fully.

Blade: Lodz #1
Razor: Gibbs #15 Adjustable (On Loan @Digimonkey )
Brush: Semogue Boar
Soap: Eufros Rosas
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel Rose petal
EDP: Rose of Bulgaria

I feel anytime of year is good for rose, so today I used the eufros Rosas for the first time. A glorious soap filled with lovely scent and a beautiful thick and slick lather created with the Semogue.

It saddens me to say but it is time for my favourite DE razor to return home to its rightful owner.
I didn't really need to shave this morning but I had to get another one or two in ;).
It teamed up superbly with the Lodz. A 2 pass BBS shave.
(Avoiding the cuts that I received yesterday from a straight.)

May I take this opportunity to sincerely thank you Iain for the extended loan, I am totally enabled and have loved every minute using it. You are a true gentleman.

Finished with Thayers and a generous helping of the EDP.

Enjoy your shaves and your weekend! :)

Hi!

Today, a warm shave in this rainy day:

The GFT Coconut cream is one of my favourites (this is the third tub I use), paired with this excellent Zenith boar I got a superb lather.

BTW how good is this cheap aluminium Lord handle that I discovered thanks to @Fido: it improves almost every head I use with it (in this case Rocwell 6c 5 comb). Not always a expensive&heavy SS handle is needed for a good shave!

Cheers!
