Evening shave.....

Prep ~ Valbora Glicerlanonlina soap, Shower
Razor ~ Eskimo Ajustable set to 3
Blade ~ Personna 74*
Soap ~ OSP Peppermint & Rosemary
Brush ~ Semouge Owners Club (Taj) Finest two band badger
Post ~ Thayers Rose Petal
Scent ~ Guerlain Jicky EDP

A great close shave from the Eskimo paired with the 74* Blade, the OSP soap was outstanding, but of course it was, it's OSP!
My first use of the new line in Semouge Owners Club brushes and it lived up to my expectations, the same great knot with a quality resin handle.
A spray or three of Jicky and I'm done. :)

Have a great evening people ....P.
Beautiful Brush!

Pre: Shower, Bulldog face wash
Soap: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola sample
Brush: Yaqi Red synthetic
Razor: EJ89 Head, Yaqi handle
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
Post: Cold water rinse, Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel
AS: Myrsol Agua De Limon

Went back to the EJ89 head today after my skin reacted badly to yesterdays shave. I can definitely tell the difference between the EJ89 and Yaqi DOC..... The EJ is a lot milder, but a less close shave was achieved. The audio feedback was far less from the EJ too. A lovely, refreshing shave with the club cola, and myrsol. Made so much lather that my wife used the remaining and commented that the scent was really nice, and lather worked really well - just as long as I don't have to lather it up for her every time!
Enjoy your evening gents

Sotd - Wednesday 13th of June -

Razor - ER 1912 British
blade - ER Corrux (pick a number)
brush - Stirling two-band fan
soap - Williams Ice Menthol cream
post - witch hazel
a/s - Artic Kinesia
balm - Barts Peppermint lotion.

Result - great.

I realised when I set about my menthol shave tonight - that the rain was battering off the window - looks like the weather has finally broken. Storm Hector apparently - can you be truly afraid of anything called Hector? Unless its a reference to the Trojan war - that Hector was a bit hard - perhaps I should be worried? The Williams cream is always a pleasure to use - punches way above its price point - well cold and excellent slickness. I've never seen the Artic Kinesia after shave for sale outside of Spain. Cheap as chips in ECI and it works very well for me. It has algae in it apparently - not entirely sure how that might help - other than making you attractive to whales - no - that's krill isn't it? Even Gemstone don't carry it - ordinarily suppliers of all things good in Spanish shaving porn. Finished off with @BartsBalm Peppermint lotion - any further praise for these products from me is redundant - if you haven't tried them - I would recommend you do so. So job done - bbs - another top end shave off the rank - yours - I.

Oh - today's sotd postcard - I have a dream that I will get to appear on Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio Four one day - 'Well Kirsty - my next track is Jimi Hendrix performing 'The Star Spangled Banner' at Woodstock.' That's going to upset a lot of punters waiting for the Archers? It's easy at this remove of time to forget how radical this piece of music was - a young - black - hippy - dressed like a camp pirate - patently out of his face most of the time - unashamedly - taking a core American anthem - something sacral - twisting it, bending it - tearing it up - putting it back together again - reworking it and handing it back to the the 'straights' on wave after wave of deafening, demented feedback. Visceral - I sort of understand the treatment as a response to Vietnam - the auditory equivalent - and every bit as eloquent as Picasso's Guernica - as anti-war statements go. They would never let me on Desert Island Discs - I'd insist on the Bonzo Dog Band next - I'd have to have Ace of Spades in my choices too. Ha ha ha.

Brush: Omega S10083
Soap: Phoenix and Beau Sanskrit (sample)
Razor: Gillette Super Blue (Chinese Tech), shimmed, on RazoRock bamboo SS handle
Blade: Lord Super Chrome (1,4)

I'm pleased to report that the P&B gives a fine lather with the Omega synthetic too, although it takes a fair bit of extra work compared with the badger.

I took the new edge on the Super Chrome, and found it very uncomfortable, and not particularly sharp. This seems to be the same issue I had with a tuck of Big Bens, too - and the same side. The top of the blade (as printed) has a perfectly serviceable edge, whereas the bottom is rough as you like. These blades were from different suppliers, too, so it's not just a rogue batch that one vendor's gotten a hold of. I finished my shave with the sharper edge.

I'm not sure if it had settled down from yesterday (by which time I thought the blade was done), or if it was just after the horror of the other edge anything would have felt like shaving with silk. Needless to say, I don't think I can see myself buying any more Lord blades in future. It's just a shame I've got another three varieties to try out already.

Happy(ier) shaving!
