Some simple facts: 1. 2 band knots became popular only relatively recently. They became popular particularly with those who prefer face lathering, and there were a lot of posts on the forums extolling the virtues of a 2 band knot. Some people considered it to be "hype" at the time. 2...

It really isn't as simple as that. All knots are different Some knots have a "hard base" extending several millimetres above the top of the plug. If set deeper than their natural loft, then they need to be set in a hole that is at least 2mm larger in diameter, sometimes more. OK...

Do you mean this one? I really like mine. A lot!!! I find it incredibly easy to use. Much easier than with a regular straight, and I find myself using a very light pen type grip on the handle which feels very natural. Is the teak handle better than the one with the plastic handle...

I have bought several straight razors from The Invisible Edge, from the expensive to the relatively cheap. Great people to deal with... and.... they really do come shave ready! Their own branded straight is actually very good indeed. (It is a Dovo with their brand etched into the blade)...

Yes... they have no heft to them... BUT ... the good news is that you can just pull off the bottom end of the handle! Just twist and pull and it comes apart easily. Then the handle is hollow and you can stuff it with weights. See in this photo the base part at the left, which just pulls off...
