    Merkur Futur 'versions'?

Hi everyone, I had recently sold my old Futur on eBay and the guy who bought has said that he thinks that it's a clone as it doesn't say 'Merkur' on the head. When I bought it (around 2012 ish I think) I don't think clones existed and I would have bought it from somewhere like Connaught so I...

    Underappreciated soaps

Agreed, it is on the expensive side but it's also quite a big pick at 150g - hopefully it's going to last for a while. I've always been a bit hesitant to try Lavendar soaps in case they're flowery but you may just have tempted me!

    Underappreciated soaps

I'm really enjoying using the Semogue soap - I have the sandalwood one. It doesn't seem to get mentioned much on here but I find the lather to be brilliant - almost creamy (I'm not good at describing these things!). The scent is more sweet than woody so perhaps that may put some people off. I...

Above the Tie SE1 - First Impressions...

Hi Roy - I forgot to address your question about the blades: The ones I have are from the Shave Lounge (no affiliation I just like the shop and the service) but you can get suitable blades from most shaving sites on the internet I would have thought.

Thanks - that's really kind. And thanks for the razor :)

Above the Tie SE1 - First Impressions...

Hi Roy - thanks for the compliment! I think that in all honesty, you could achieve a similar result using a DE razor but perhaps with a bit more work or a more aggressive razor. However, I have found (in the brief time I have had with it), that the process of actually shaving with the SE1 has...

Above the Tie SE1 - First Impressions...

I have recently acquired the ATT SE1 through the BST forums here and have been using it for the past week. This is my first SE razor so I wasn't sure what to expect - I thought that I would put a few things in a post on the off chance that it may be useful for someone who is debating trying...

    August 2017 Acquisitions

Arrived today - An ATT SE1 with a Kronos handle and some Antica Barbiera Colla cream - thanks to @kamisori! I've decided to try the Kai Pink blades, which are on their way from the Shave Lounge - looking forward to giving it a go...

I doubt that would mean that I won't be buying any more soaps though! It was a toss up between this and Tundra Arctica so that one will be next...

My new shaving bowl from Little Wren Pottery! I saw some of the ones that people have on SOTD and thought they looked great - really pleased with this one. I pinched the photo from the Etsy page...

    Kai Blades

I started using Kai DE blades earlier in the year in my Muhle R89 and I think they're brilliant. Sharp but smooth and very efficient if that makes sense - 2 passes was enough. I also find they have good longevity so whilst they cost more one blade did me for a week of daily use. I'm trying...

    Show us your boars!

The Ash one does look lovely - I think everyone is right in saying that it's a bit of a slippery slope! I did look at the 1250 too as I quite like the undied bristle. Maybe that's another one for the future. One thing I do like is the fact that the handles are a decent size (and a really good...

    Show us your boars!

I don't have a collection, only the one SOC in Cherry. My first boar brush, which is about a month old now and I'm absolutely loving it! It's completely changed how I make a lather - I thought I pretty much had it sorted with my badger brushes but this one has shown me what loading a brush...

How to retain or regain the wonderful shape of your Badger and Boar knots

Thanks for the reply! I only really use one brush at the moment and it only just dries before it's used again. I might do this to the ones in my cupboard though as they do look good! Rich
