    New Synthetic Grade?

Yes. Interesting knot. I've not heard anyone give their views (as yet) on this knot. I've ordered the 28mm, but yet to choose a handle for it. I already have the cashmere and the tuxedo, and just want to see whether they (synthetics) could get even better!

What are the three shaving items that you purchased in 2017 that were a hit and which were a miss?

I replaced the grey badger knot in my Cadman for a cashmere knot. The cashmere is much softer than the tuxedo, has better splay and also does not spring back as severe as the tuxedo. Hope it helps.

What are the three shaving items that you purchased in 2017 that were a hit and which were a miss?

For me this year, the main positive Hit was - the synthetic knots. In ascending order of preference: 3 - Tuxedo knot APShave CO brush - this knot finally made me get it with synthetics. It changed my daily routine. I got my first Tuxedo in August and since then it's been synthetics and finally...

After a new brush badger vs Synthetic

I am now a convert to synthetic. Previously, I've used various badgers - Plisson, M&F Simpson and Kents. Since earlier this year I've tried the following synthetics - tuxedos, Whipped Dog, Razorock, Cashmere and Envy Shave knots. I recommend what previous posters have said about trying a...

    Wiping Blades

I disassemble the razor and blade rinse under running tap, and dry strop the blade on back of towel. Reassemble job done. I change blades weekly. Been doing this for over 10 years no issues and getting great bbs shave consistently no matter the blade brand.

Which knot for soaps & cream?

+1 That says it all, really. It is already acknowledged that different knot (types) perform differently, so why load them the same.

    Making a blade last longer

Pennies, true enough, but the first shave with some blades can be a bit rough on the skin. I can only speak for myself but there on shaves are smoother. Sunday is blade change. No bother really. But each to their own.

    Making a blade last longer

I hand strop my blades after each daily use. I change blades every week (Sundays) with no problems in performance. I could comfortably get more than 10 days shaves from one blade, but I'd start to lose count.

Haslinger soaps, how are you using the pucks?

I currently have my Haslinger puck in a muhle mug, but in the past I've grated it and placed it in a ceramic camembert baking dish. I've been using these containers for the last few years for my soaps. Loads of design available - do an Amazon search under "camembert baking dish". Works a treat.

    Keep blade in razor

+1 Same here. I flip the blade when I put it back in. I don't keep count of blade use - I change the blade every Sunday (weekly). I have no performance issues using a blade for week.

    Handmade Shaving bowl

I do not know which part of the UK you're based, but there is in Wimbledon (South London) Stephen Llewellyn (Abbey Mill Pottery) where they have pottery (one day) classes. You could make your own bowl. I live just down the road and often look in on the mill/shop and see classes. It's all done in...

    Gillette Silver Blue

Great blades. They are smoother than my favourite Polsiver. In fact I keep switching between the two as my favourite. Polsilvers are cheaper but GSB has the edge purely because I seem to get up to 2 weeks shaves on one blade. They always impress me with their long performance.
