    Fatboy or Slim? And why?

I have a BB (more correctly a Super 109) in my rotation of daily shavers. I have FB’s and Slims in most of their iterations But the 109 is the shaver I like the best. Used to use it as my ‘go to’ to try out new blades. My ‘go to’ now is the Merkur Slant, but that’s another story.

Platinum Blades - is this a thing?

I seem to remember reading about a man who worked at Gillette’s research lab. They were working on reducing blade tugging and that is where PTFE comes in. However, PTFE doesn’t want to stick to the blade edge but a coating of platinum did the trick. further research stopped as double sided...

Astra Green - Is it just me?

I really like the Astra Green. I've used them in a variety of razors and found that the ones that suited me the best were the Merkur and FaTip slant razors.

Bic Chrome Platinum - My Thoughts

Sorry you had a bad experience. The BIC s one of my favourite blades in a variety of razors. My best shaves with it have been with the Merkur or FaTip slant razors. The tech shaves I had were also good but not as good as the slants.

    Which OC to replace R41?

FaTip Grande or Slant are both very fine razors for the money. My personal fave is the slant.

    Vintage Gillette Recommendation

I wouldnt call this a mild razor. Indeed, it was sold as 'Heavy Duty'. I have one and can confirm that it's really quite aggressive.

    Criminal!

I've had very good shaves using the Bic blade in a Fat Boy, Rocket HD500 a Tech and a New as well as modern razors. Didn't like it in the Black Beauty though.

Shaving As Portrayed in Films & on TV.

Can't remember which, but in one of the James Bond books Felix Lighter persuades James to ditch his Gillette and get a better made razor from Hoffritz of New York. The model chosen was an open-comb. Although branded Hoffritz, was actually made by Merkur in Germany. I have one and it is indeed a...

    Best Synthetic Knot?

No fans of the RazoRock 400 out there? All the rage at one time iirc. I found it to be very good to use with e.g. Cella and face lathering. I'm currently using a Yaqi 24mm Tuxedo as my daily driver.

if you had to choose one DE/SE/SR for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

I have over 150 razors in my collection. Most are for gazing at but I have over a dozen in regular rotation. The one that always puts a smile on my face is the Fatip Grande Slant. If I had to choose only one, that would be it.

    One for Gillette connoisseurs

Have you ever seen a triangle slot on an English made razor? So far, I’ve only seen it on USA made ones.

    Least agressive adjustable razor

I have regularly shaved with all of the Gillette adjustables. My view is that the Super 109 aka Black Beauty is the mildest. However, you need to find a blade that suits you and the razor.

which de razor should i get from these ones?

The Fatip Slant is now my go-to razor. Haven't found a blade that it doesn't like.

Around 1100. Best ones? Personna Lab Blue; Polsilver SI; BIC.

Next blades to try and which of the Gillette's?

Personna reds, blues, meds'. Brilliant blades but not the cheapest. Best bangs per buck, for me, is the new Tiger blades.
