    Yellow Lake Finishing Stone

Followed this thread with interest and picked up the exact same Yellow Lake Stone from ebay. Lapped it with wet/dry progressively from 320 upto 1.2K. I touched up my 6/8 Bengall last night and have to concur with Billy a definite improvement to the smoothness of the edge. It always had a...

    German Soaps

I would rate Tabula Rasa, Meißner Tremonia, Calani, Speick and Tabac all as good perfromers. Particularly fond of Tabula Rasa especially the Steampunk.

    Brush killing lather ?

Are you bowl or face lathering? How long are you soaking the brush for before using? If you squeeze the base of the knot is there any lather being push out of the top of the brush?

    Professor Blighty?

Its a real pity he made some great soaps, aftershaves etc. I have fond memories of the Scaramouche soap and aftershave, citrus orange with under tones of sandalwood - it made for a great summer shave.

What made your day a crap one??

As a dog owner myself, it truly saddens me to read this. This sadly gives all dog owners a bad reputation and also fuels the dangerous dog argument. Dogs like us humans have individual personalities and are the product of their upbringing be it good or bad, their environment be it claim or...

Stainless steel vs carbon steel ?

Stainless steel will not rust, carbon steel will so you need to dry it and store it correctly. I have both variants in my rotation and can not really tell the difference between the blade material/performance on the face once they have been honed correctly. Maintenance wise i have found no...

    Old Vulfix

Go for the Lime, it performs equally as well as the Persian Musk and the smell is quite natural as opposed to candy store lime if that makes any sense. I have used the Rose in the past as well, not so set on the scent, this one is a bit artificial but the performance is great for the price.

What are you reading at the moment?

The Sword and Scimitar by Simon Scarrow. Historical fiction about the Great Siege of Malta in 1565, between the Christian Knights of the Order of St John and the expanding Islamic Ottoman Empire. Good read so far.

    Traveling with straights

One other point always use a pouch for the razor when air traveling to stop it accidentally opening up in your case or bag.

    Traveling with straights

I travel a fair bit with business (middle East and Far East) and to date have never had any issues with a straight in my checked in luggage. I would however only take a cheaper straight when i air travel just in case it became an issue.

    Mayweather vs McGregor

I also think the big difference in both sports is the punching range. In MMA they get very close and tight, in boxing they tend to hold their distance, so range is much more important - Mayweather is an intelligent boxer and will not get pulled in close and i think Connor will struggle with...
