Hello Gents-- Being across the pond it is sometimes difficult for me to judge relative pricing for wet shaving products "native" to other countries. I am working on an article for Sharpologist that I would like to make less US-centric. So my question is, what are the best wet shaving bargains...

Aluminum or Stainless handle? Where did you take the measurement? I measured mine (aluminum, red) with a digital calipers and it was closer to 11 mm mid-handle--the little bottom cap at the base of the handle is slightly wider that's closer to 12 on my calipers. BTW I posted a review...

Ha, by coincidence I just finished an article about masculine floral-scented soaps (will post Friday). I mention three products specifically (Trumper Violet, Dr. Jon's Flowers In The Dark, and Salter Rose) and I think Trumper Violet could be classified as somewhat "sweet." YMMV of course. :)

It's no secret that the Progress has been one of my favorite razors for many years. But, as others here have said, the new Parker Variant addresses most of the little quirks of the Progress. Now more often than not I pick up my Variant and my Progress has stayed in the razor drawer for a while.

Nope, no NDA, ask away... Although I know of the Autostrop I don't have any experience with it. Frankly--and respectfully--I'm not sure it's relevant either: it's been out of production for many years and vintage examples are far less common than, say, a GEM.

Believe it or not I generally avoid getting freebie samples...I buy a lot of it myself to avoid the perception of conflict-of-interest. But maybe I should do a periodic giant PIF of stuff I've tried.... :idea:
