Fuji X100F - any owners here?

I have an X100S (and an X-Pro 1, and an X-T1, and an X-E1, and an X30). I considered getting rid of the X-T1 and X100S for an X100F, but decided to wait and get one from the Fuji refurb shop when they start to appear.

    Wedding Waistcoat Wonderings

I'd advise a little caution in choosing anything too bold or bright - you don't want to clash or detract from your bride! Maybe go for a colour that will compliment the bride's flowers? Perhaps a darkish shade so that your watch chain will show up against it. I'd go for a single breasted...

What Watch Are You Wearing Today?

Oris Artix. Having taken the picture, I've now adjusted the date! I had to put a new strap on it, as there seemed to be something on the lining of the original that caused a localised allergic reaction when I wore it. I'm now trying to find a suitable tapering strap that will take the...

    orient watches

I have one of the original Orient Bambino models. Fantastic retro look, and keeps better time than other watches I own that cost 10 times more. I bought it from seriouswatches.com

Your James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who

I agree. I love the first few 1960s Bond films because they are so stylish - the cars, the clothes and the music. I was also lucky enough to have met John Stears, who was responsible for the special effects in the early films (and Star Wars) a few times, and talked with him about the films. The...

Your James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who

Bond: Sean Connery Sherlock: Jeremy Brett - other than the name, what has Sherlock to do with Conan Doyle's works? Dr Who: Tom Baker

    San Francisco issues freeze warning

Pumpkin pie is perfectly revolting, though YMMV!

    Cigarette lighters

The other lighter I like is the Xikar FlintFire, which is even more MadMen. They don't seem to be readily available in UK, though. By coincidence, my first two jobs when I left school in the mid 1970s (and before I joined the RAF) were in advertising. It wasn't quite MadMen, but not far off...

    San Francisco issues freeze warning

I visited my relatives in Tulsa, Oklahoma in November one year. There were a couple of cold nights with some frost and ice, which the locals were clearly not used to, especially on the roads. Served them right for making me eat pumpkin pie.

    port

I love port, not least because it always invokes happy memories of Mess dinners. This year I have some of the M&S port; not yet opened. In fact, it won't be opened until after Christmas, because I'm going to my sister's on the day, and I intend to enjoy my port in peace and quiet afterwards.

    Cigarette lighters

My new lighter has arrived.... I'm very pleased with it. It's quite small, which I think is a good thing, and has a wonderful tactile quality. All I need now is some butane. Which is odd, because yesterday, in anticipation, I went to the supermarket specifically to buy some. I returned...

It's this one, from Peterson: As my surname begins with P it's even monogrammed!

    Cigarette lighters

I think so. I've just ordered rather a nice Art Deco style pipe lighter which has a side flame. Much easier for pipe-lighting.

Tallow in the new plastic money

I note that the proprietor says: "we are actually going to have to say that we can't take the notes in our restaurant." It would be more accurate to say that - actually - just as she's chosen to be a vegetarian, she's also chosen not to accept one type of bank note. Apparently it hasn't harmed...

Tallow in the new plastic money

Meanwhile, the tedious group of po-faced, virtue-signalling harridans known as PETA have proclaimed that wool garments are cruel to sheep. I wonder if they've thought it through - if they had their way we'd not eat meat, and we wouldn't use animals for leather or wool. The ultimate consequence...

    SOTD - The Feet Version

I have several pairs. They were absolutely free - the only downside was having to wear them for several months in various sandy shitholes. None of my socks show any signs of wear.

Tallow in the new plastic money

For me this falls firmly into the 'oh dear, how sad, never mind' category. No likee - don't use them. If only banknotes could be made out of vegans...

It was very wild here last night - I live on Hayling Island. All looks ok this morning, though I hear a few unsecured trampolines have changed location!
