    Selling razor question

Take an old tooth brush and load it with soap. Scrub the razor, rinse and dry. All done! Let the buyer worry about sterilizing the razor. For selling make it look as clean as can be!

    Vintage Shaving Mugs

I have several scuttles/shaving mugs like yours. I do not cover the soap in the top and they work just fine. I put a layer of soap in the top but not a whole lot. This leaves room to lather the brush. Also a good decoration. Most of the silver plate is gone on mine. Doesn't seem to matter?

With all my vintage and new razors My one and only keeper would be my One Blade Genesis!

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

Thanks for that. It is the same brush as mine. Seems about right that Vulfix or Rooney might have made my brush. My photos are off in color some in my photos, as the brush you found in the sales ad is about the same color as mine. Possibly a little lighter in color? Hard to tell really? Handle...

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

I've now finally used this brush and I notice that the knot has the shorter collared hairs that I have only seen on fairly old English shaving brushes. The knot is small but very dense and the brush lathers like a trooper. Definitely a keeper. Makes my Wee Scott seem like a Piker?

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

Nothing on the bottom of the brush. No markings. Apparently the original manufacturer will not be known. The brush is in such good condition it could not have been used very much or at all? I thought someone would have recognized the number but apparently not?

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

I think Celluloid is correct for the handle material and similar to what celluloid "French Ivory" items look like when they age?

Maybe Celluloid handle instead of Catalin? "French Ivory" Thanks for all the opinions!

Sounds reasonable. Makes me think the handle is not standard Caitlin as most Caitlin handles I have seen have turned a nice butterscotch color. Though the woody brown is uniform and still nice looking. I have polished a few Caitlin butterscotch brush handles with a drill press and buffing wheel...

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

Interesting in the difficulty in identification? I received this brush in an Auction where I one the bid on a Shavemac brush and the additional brush of a vintage "London" brush. When I received the package I couldn't get over the quality and shape of this vintage "English" brush. The badger...

Who Manufactured this English Shaving Brush?

No prize yet? I am leaning towards Culmac as the nearest similar looking brush I have observed with a similar shape. If not Culmac then Rooney seems to be a more likely candidate to me because of the printing on the brush and the Ivory imitation. The brush has turned Browninsh with age but not...

    Timeless Bronze

I bought one new. The shave was outstanding. Very close and something a little more than too mild for sure. I just didn't like the tarnish that grew on it very quickly. And, it was difficult to polish it back to how it looked new. But, still the shave was outstanding. Brass tarnishes and I wish...

    Have you got a SABLE??

Some call it collecting; some call it obsession. In the end you are dead for a heck of a long time. Enjoy while you can and to each his own!

    Oneblade vs supply razor

I shave with the one Blade Razor. I shaved with the Supply injector razor & I tried to like the Supply razor, but I never found it to shave very close. I can't get a better shave than with my One Blade Razor. Trouble with the One Blade Razor is there is only one brand blade available. And, it is...

    Rooney brushes

I don't quite understand the love of Rooney brushes. I have several very old Rooneys one NOS and to me they are at best "Meh". No backbone at all and very soft paintbrushes really? Also definitely not dense enough badger hair. Then recently on E-bay I paid $99 for a "New"as advertised last of...

    Gillette Tech

I agree as I have bought several different tech travel sets and the heads are indeed unused. Several as I wanted the heads with the Gillette Diamond, plain and aluminum to try. All seem mostly the same to me? I like the Gillette Tech head with the diamond etched onto it best.

What is (was) your best razor - actually providing your best shave?

Absolutely no blade I have tried comes close to the discontinued Person 74 Tungsten blades. They are super sharp, super long lasting and super smooth. I wish they were made today. I have a small supply and continue to look for them when they turn up as a bargain for less than $150 per blade!
