Is there a better soap than Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap?

The arko stick really doesn't work for me. My skin flared up majorly, so kind of put me off ever trying other arko options. Not heard about the vintage Williams though.

Is there a better soap than Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap?

I've never had a good experience with a shave stick, but I have know people rave about the Palmolive stick... Maybe I'll try that next... But apparently it has been discontinued!

Is there a better soap than Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap?

To be honest, I don't think it has a smell... At least nothing noticeable. I would always recommend trying it as it's one of the cheaper options!

Is there a better soap than Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap?

I cycle through various soaps; hasslinger (nice) and Razorrocks dead sea (lovely smell) ones are some I've recently finished. But every time I go back to Mitchell’s Wool Fat, it's just great! Always lathers nicely, smells good, nice shave and doesn't set my skin off! If I have a bad shave with...

    Traveling with sensitive skin

I've tried and never got on with any of the Nivea products, all of them seem to get me to flare up! I'm afraid that just using warm water to shave in is better for my skin than the Nivea creams I've tried. I am tempted to try Bluebeard's revenge, but have a Aloe Vera cream from Muhle on order...

    Traveling with sensitive skin

Sounds like a good set up. I've ordered myself a syth now, waiting for it to arrive late this week. I am still searching for a cream. Has anyone tried Bluebeard's revenge? Seems to come in a good travel friendly pot. Yes, animal hair brushes are fine for a few hours, but it's when I'm moving...

Wow, that's unusual... A definite answer about a product! Good to know. Thanks team!

    Well Groomed Wizard

Has anyone tried Well Groomed Wizard? They seem to be very much cheap China made stuff... So I wasn't going to risk their soaps, but their brush is tempting: https://shavingstation.co.uk/well-groomed-wizard-synthetic-shaving-brush-travel-case-p264 Has anyone tried it? I can only find one...

    Traveling with sensitive skin

I'm not sure I like the idea of having damp paper in my luggage! Having the brush dry for the following day isn't brilliant when I need to check out the same day. Sorry, but not sure your ideas will work for me. But thanks for your ideas! The next day isn't brilliant for checking out that...

    Traveling with sensitive skin

I have over sensitive skin. I have found some shaving set ups that work for me. However, these all involve a boar brush and a soap pick. How do people travel with a brush and soap puck? Doing all I can my boar brush stays too wet to be put away, and I have yet to find a decent way to transport...

    Problems with a Semi-Slant

Right well I thought I'd bite the bullet and get myself something to replace it.... While I enjoyed the Parker Semi, I thought I'd got for your recommendation. After giving it a couple of goes now, I agree, the Lo Storto is good, though I would prefer a longer and heavier handle (such as what...

    Problems with a Semi-Slant

I've had my EJ89 now for over 5 years and no issues with that one. I've also got a Claymore which must be at least 3 years now and is doing fine. Any recommendations for a non-Zamak razor?

    Problems with a Semi-Slant

Oh right, so it's a probably just the coating wearing away. Do people get the same problem with the Merkur 39C do you know? I've really enjoyed the slant, but if it's a feature of all Parker Semi-Slants, I may replace it with an alternative which doesn't have the issue (or at least not as common).

    Problems with a Semi-Slant

The other morning I was happily having a shave, doing all that kuffule of life in the morning, and went to change the blade in my Parker Semi-Slant which I've been using as my daily go-to for over a year now. I unscrew it, and it pops apart very quickly, which surprised me. And then I try to...

    Finding a suitable bowl

I have never tried melting it.. Guessing putting it in a glass bowl in a saucepan of water and melting in that way should work shouldn't it?

    Finding a suitable bowl

How does it respond to the brush once grated? I had always thought you'd get individual grating lumps stuck in your brush?

    Finding a suitable bowl

That is an option I'll resort to if I don't get a suitable bowl, but it's a hard soap and I'm not sure how being grated will effect it. I had also thought of finding a way to cut it into three or something, then I could get it to fit in the bowl no problem.

    Finding a suitable bowl

I have, over the past 5 or 6 years, relied on the trusty plastic bowl the Proraso Sensitive Shaving Soap comes in. It was free, it does the job well; smaller soaps (such as 60g Haslinger) fit in the smaller bottom part quite well, the larger soaps (for example the 125g Wool Fat) sit on the top...

Lack of Lather, Blame the Brush

I could get a mug... I just dread the time Darling Wife Who Isn't Clumsy At All knocks it off the side and it breaks into pieces and then it's my fault for having a mug on the side. Enamel, metal or plastic would sort that, but I've not got any suitable ones plastic ones, and no metal or enamel...

Lack of Lather, Blame the Brush

Soaking the brush requires use of the sink or purchase of a suitable bowl. Use of the sink is easy when darling wife is on a later shift, but she's a very greedy with it when getting up at the same time. It's not a major issue, but usually tricky once or twice a week.
