Gillette toggle for only £2000 LOL

I honestly thought the market had come down for those as I had seen a user grade go for under $400.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Merry Chrisrmas , what you are describing sounds quite nice actually , I really like Palmolive and had the bests shave I can remember with it as well.

    What is your thirstiest soap?

Barrister & Mann old formula in the white tubs , this was my thirstiest soap and would take four or five more hits of water than I usually go in for with other soap.

Gillette toggle for only £2000 LOL

I have similar thoughts on the bottom dials , for me I like the regular fatboy over all the others.

    Vintage soaps & creams?

If I'm not mistaken I believe Mitchell's still uses a traditional recipe that dates back quite a while.

Gillette toggle for only £2000 LOL

Nice looking razor but I'm not a collector anymore and not sure I would ever pay more than what the average SS razors are going for now as that is already expensive for me.

    Shavemac Issues

From what I have experienced the repair of a faulty knot consists of either steaming the knot out or drilling the knot out. Both of these techniques risk damage and it would not surprise me if the brush is replaced in full.

After a new brush badger vs Synthetic

I agree , the one synthetic that I did really enjoy using was the Stirling Kong. I really enjoyed how that brush splayed and it worked really well for me.

After a new brush badger vs Synthetic

Synthetics really seem to be more affordable and easier to maintain , I just greatly prefer the feel of a boar or badger.

    Proraso Aftershave

I found the Proraso green splash to have a decent scent strength that I could only describe as being what most would call a barbershop type scent as I cannot pick out any notes in particular. The scent is very close to the toner my barber applies after a fresh haircut and shave. Clean with a...

I think i am converting to facelathering

I face lather as well , I enjoy the process a bit more than bowl lathering though I still occasionally use a scuttle.

    Modern SS DEs.

I do enjoy the Wolfman Razors , but I also enjoy R41 , R89 , and a few other non SS razors. I don't think SS razors are better by any means. They are nice to look at and certainly feel like a well manufactured tool in hand but as far as shave performance there is little to no difference either way.

What gives a better post shave than Haslinger?

I would like to try this brand at some point , I have heard great things.

What's your best budget shave cream?

Proraso red for me. I really enjoy the scent and the performance for the money is also very nice.

What gives a better post shave than Haslinger?

My favorite soaps for post shave excellence include mystic waters , Barrister & Mann , and Mitchell's wool fat.

    Noob just received first setup

Nice setup , I just used the rest of my TOBS sandalwood about a month ago. I was a DE 89 guy for a very long time , perhaps 5 years with this razor, it gives very comfortable smooth shaves.

Perceived value of high end brushes

I have used only the Omega pro and the B&B essentials and both have had a nice amount of backbone , the essentials brush I believe had a bit more than the pro , both were exceptional.

Perceived value of high end brushes

Hard to come close to a D01 with backbone , they are champions of backbone and really only a Rooney Finest or a Simpson Manchurian in my experience has had a similiar characteristic. The really nice examples of budget friendly brushes I have owned had less backbone similiar to Thater and Morris...
