Acqua di Parma Colonia....

Seen some comparisons to Dior Eau Sauvage (EDT) as well as Monsieur de Givenchy. Both apparently give that classic-cologne thing which is reminiscent of AdP Colonia, though I've tried neither so can't comment conclusively. The Givenchy comes across brighter with lemon verbena. It apparently also suffers from some performance issues. Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum is notably different but masculine with a round base and some citrus at the top.

Another one which springs to mind is a Roger & Gallet fragrance which @Rohleder would be able to divulge more information about - he recently sold this one but made a definite comparison to Colonia.

Towards a soapy, neroli fragrance (i.e. of a similar vibe but different fragrance) Mugler Cologne is a good one. @wayne mattison recently tried this out and said he found it had something 'strange' in it, but it's otherwise inoffensive and easy to wear. I believe @flashashton27 was also recently selling a bottle of this.

I'll have another gander later and see what else I can come up with! :D

Thanks very much for the response. Mugler Cologne has been on my radar for some time. I used to wear Dior Eau Sauvage around 25 years ago. I know it's gone through a few changes over the last few years.

I'll look into the other ones, cheers.

Also, for what it's worth, I find the 'poor' longevity something of a blessing at times. It's really nice to be able to top up at lunch time, get that initial blast of it again and to not come across as if you've bathed in the stuff.

I know what you're saying but Colonia lasts minutes on me.:(

I can indeed :D

As with all these Colognes its a case of "same church, different pew". I referred to the R&G on my first use of it as poor man's AdP as it always seems to be recommended as such. However, after further uses I got a better grasp of what it offers... Jean-Marie Farina is in the same vein as the other classic Colognes but has strong herbaceous base notes which change the overall character, rather than poor man's AdP I would more accurately call it Eau Sauvages grandfather and perhaps AdP's cousin.

Longevity I found to be 3-4 hours, sillage moderate to mild with a definite progression (its not linear like 4711 which is absolute filth in comparison... A Cologne for Proles you might say.) It seems to be available online for as little as £22+postage so a heck of a lot more affordable than AdP and far longer lasting.

I had a tester spray of Guerlain du Coq the other week, quite nice it was too... I'm after a sampler of Imperiale next.

''You had me at Guerlain'':p

I've just bought a bottle of du Coq on eBay, £26.00 incl postage for 100ml bottle. I know it's always a risk buying blind but anything from Guerlain hasn't disappointed yet. I'll report back on how I get on. Thanks James.:)

So it was you! I was watching that one :p (Don't worry, I had no intention of actually buying it!)

I hope you enjoy it Rob, as I say I've only had a couple of sprays of it myself so cant really give any insight other than "nice" but as you say, cant go wrong with Guerlain.
