After a new brush badger vs Synthetic

I am now a convert to synthetic. Previously, I've used various badgers - Plisson, M&F Simpson and Kents. Since earlier this year I've tried the following synthetics - tuxedos, Whipped Dog, Razorock, Cashmere and Envy Shave knots.

I recommend what previous posters have said about trying a synthetic first, as they are so much cheaper and they build better lather in shorter time, they need less maintenance. they do not shed.

I've now settled on the cashmere as the best of the synths. Forgot the hype behind tuxedos - the cashmere splays so much better than tuxedos, the Razorback plissoft is also really good for performance. Face feel have improved so much on the newer knots.
The biggest advantage (for me) in favour of the synthetics I've used so far is that they build lather so easily, I no longer worry about which soap I use. They handle all soaps so well when it comes to building lather.

In the morning, if I could cut down on my shaving time, the synthetics have helped.

But again we all have an opinion on brush choice. Good luck in your decision.

I a

Im looking to mainly face lather and my budget is up to £200, with regards to backbone I am unsure what you mean but I usually use cream or croaps and prefer a soft feel to my face but may benefit from a slightly more stiffer brush for my thick coarse beard.

With that kind of budget you could try badger, boar and synthetic without cheaping out. For face lathering and for medium backbone my suggestions are:

Badger - Simpson Colonel X2L best badger

Boar - Semogue Owners Club boar

Synthetic - Muhle silvertip fibre V2

By rotating all three brushes for a couple of months you'll gain an appreciation for what you like.

Thanks all as I said I have been using the Simpsons colonel X2L best badger, but I am looking at trying a synth brush

Synthetics really seem to be more affordable and easier to maintain , I just greatly prefer the feel of a boar or badger.
Me also and there is nothing wrong with that, it's all about personal choice at the end of the day, I resisted buying a synthetic brush for over a year but thought what's all the fuss about and bought a couple of Razorock brushes and they are ok but I still like my boar and badger more than the Synthetic's.
It's great that we have the choice and are not demonised for using what we prefer. :) P.
