An Ever Ready 1912?????

I'll post a few pics once it arrives, I am no expert on such things but after having trawled various suppliers websites this one stood out for its condition. In the main reviews for these are positive, but all say the experience is very different to a DE, have you any pointers to a novice 1912 user ? (open goal here to Fergie Billy!)
1912s are fine and Dandy as an SE taster..The English 1912 is far more aggressive than most of the USA Models..They are a good starting point because they are cheap but they don't even look close to some other SEs out there with far more Finesse..:)

Trust an old guy Tman, you'll find using any SE an easy, intuitive experience with little learning curve. Because it has only the one cutting edge the head is nicely angled and assists you in finding the ideal angle. Just rest the head flat against your skin, lower the handle towards your face until the blade touches and enjoy a comfortable, close and irritation free shave which only gets better. My first SE changed my wet shaving practise after 50 years ! ( for the better, obviously ).
And no, it doesn't have to be a rabbit hole; my best shaver remains that very first 1912 with its travel handle. I would never need another razor for practical purposes. Enjoy !

If the SE standard was measured against the Ever Ready Streamline in Forums there wouldn't be much else to say..Its light years ahead of them all...Probably shave the Bollocks off a Mongoose an all...:D

Having recently improved my shaving skills using injectors, I had a shave with a "Streamline " which was exceptional , could not imagine getting a better shave from any SE Razor. Though Marcus seems to be enjoying his shaves with the Mongoose, and he likes the "Streamline" these days.

Thanks gents, I certainly appreciate the collective feedback. Anybody here tried a straight for comparison?

I used a straight on occasion for a few years until ( lack of ) steadiness of han and onset of cataracts made it inadvisable. The closest shave I ever got with an SE could never really quite compare to the outstandng smoothness and softness of the straight. On the other hand I didn't have to spend weeks restricting the use of the SE to my cheeks only until I dared move onto other areas of the face and throat. And I NEVER dared attempt under my rather overhanging nose !
As far as the comments on the Streamline are concerned, just shows how true YMMV is. I regularly use mine because it looks so elegantly lovely, rather than because it affords a better shave than any of my other SEs.

Ok, both the Empire and L'Essor look exquisite, but what is the critical difference between them and other SE's? Noob question, sorry.
Chalk & Cheese...The Hollow Ground blade is the difference..These blades are just a shorter version of a straight razor..The feel of these blades is like a straight razor shave..The angle is very akin to a straight razor as well...They are something to behold...Shaving with these wedge blade SEs cant be put into words...It has to be experienced...The knowledge is in the beholder..:D
