Ball end Tech query

New to collecting but just brought a English brass handled Ball end Tech 50's type and noticed that although the cap is also plated brass the blade base is Aluminium is this unusual ?.

It's a mismatch, mate ........ There is an aluminium tech; it sounds like you have the baseplate off one on that razor.

In terms of function, it may work just fine.

In terms of owning a "pure" tech, then you've had a swing and a miss. You've joined a not very exclusive club though. My tech has a very nice handle, and it is so similar to the genuine ball end that it took me about 6 months to realise that it was a bit of a hybrid.
