Bay Rum,...suggestions please.

For Bay Rum soap I'd say the OSP would take some beating.

Today saw the arrival of both varieties of Bello (from a helpful seller in Germany and who advertises on Ebay but is happy to sell direct). The two flavours are different - you need to try them both. Both are worth having if you're into BR, but if you only want one then the "original" version is the one.... as opposed to the "Lime" one.

The Pashana American BR is now here and the Pinaud VIBR is here too.

None of them are long lasting or overpowering but if Bay Rum is what you want then any of the above will do you nicely.

It'll be a while before my home made BR is ready for use but for sure Big Boar's home made stuff is nice (but I don't think Big Boar visits TSR much now and he's not been seen in another forum for a month or so either... so best not reckon on anything there).

Have you tried the executive shaving bay rum cream? I bought a pot few weeks ago and I just keep going back to it all the time. It great stuff you will not be disappointed.
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I do not use creams. Hard soaps for me. I see meissner tremonia do a Bay Rum. I may give that or OSP a go.

I had a sample of Santa Monica Bay Rum soap made by LASSC. Makes a nice thick lather with good protection. Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum AS is the perfect match to it, scent is almost identical.

I didn't know the OSP Bay Rum was no longer. Shame... it was nice. However it strikes me that whatever your soap smells of, it's gone within no time... i.e. by the time you've rinsed it and then used a balm and/or an aftershave followed, maybe, by your favourite EDT or EDP... then it's long gone. The smell of this or that soap is always nice to experience but, for me at least, it's a fleeting pleasure.
But if the Bay Rum smell in your soap is what you fancy then why not just get a plain unscented soap and add a drop of Bay Rum essential oil?

Unfortunately Wayne you will have trouble finding the OSP Bay rum because it is now discontinued due the the global price hike in The Bay oil that James used. But I'm sure you will like the Meissner Tremonia Bay Rum. A little pricy but worth every penny imo.

I have the Meissner Indian Flavour and it is a really nice soap. It makes a weird proto lather. It's kinda Marshmallow in texture but as you add water it becomes more of a real yogurt
Alas no. :-( but if their other soaps are anything to go by still very good.
Hey Paul. You missed out on that Whiskey soap. I tried it the other night it is an epic soap truly great performer. Glad I didn't pass it on now ;)

In case anyone was vaguely interested here's the ingredients list of my current concoction. I was inspired by another list taken from a lengthy thread in a USA based forum. Having had a good look round there are countless variations on numerous forums and in loads of articles on the net. No two are the same, this one simply happens to include stuff that took my fancy and was easily obtained and that either smell nice or sound like they'll smell nice. There's no science or logic in it at all and it could be a disaster - but it smells nice at the moment, albeit it's rather cloudy.
