Best pre-shave

Of all the pre shaves I have tried, I find the Castle Forbes makes the biggest difference for me. I have a very tough beard but when I use Castle Forbes pre shave the razor glides effortlessly. It's very expensive but it lasts a long time. Proraso never seems to make a difference for me when I use it but a lot of our customers rate it.

As Paul mentioned above, Olive Oil or some other Vegie based Oil does the job...I use Coco Nut Oil...As far as I am concerned any scented product can back fire on you...Keep it simple..The shop that I go into cant keep enough Coco Nut Oil as women buy it by the bucket load..o_O

my apologies, don't remember it, was a few years ago, it was coconut oil with hints of some herbs, local artisan will try to look for it,
if interested there is a new player in the Indian market called Forest Essentials, pretty pricey about 10 quid in INR for a tub of shaving cream they also have post shave spray have got their shaving cream sandalwood and orange peel, completely vegan and smells good will try it and also try to post pictures tomorrow

Used it for the first time this morning! Performs pretty well, smell's slightly strange but I can get used to it, along with the same cream (white tube). But for a silly lazy swipe on a spot on my chin it was a pretty nice shave!

My pre shave is a splash of water taken off the top of the puck. If I don't soak the puck first I just run a bit of warm water over the top and use that. I experimented with various pre shaves from Noxzema to Gentlemen's Refinery , at first it seemed to be of benefit, but after improving my lather and shaving technique I abandoned all but the soapy water. Of course a good face washing and sometimes a scrub is essential for me.

Depends what you want your pre-shave to do and for how long you want it to do it. I have several minutes between stepping out of the shower and towel drying my face before actually starting my shaving ritual. So I use an oil as soon as I've dried my face - keep the stubble soft and moist - and then apply Proraso pre-shave creamm just before starting to lather up.

Pretty much any old veg oil will do for that, so I have a big bottle of coconut oil for not a lot of money and several ridiculously expensive pre-shave oils, Murdocks being on of my favourites. I hate to say it but BlueBeard's is good and not so very expensive.

Do we need all this pre-shave stuff? No, but it's nice. A well wetted beard and a good soap/cream will do the job - but lacks pamper even if it would save cash.

Oh! best pre-shave - Swagger and Jacks of Norwich, no doubt in my mind.
I've been waiting for the guru to enlighten his acolytes about the mystery of pre-shave oils. I have ordered the Swagger and Jacks of Norwich Ultimate shave oil as we all need a bit of extra pampering. With the oil and Xpec, I might even load up a Feather blade with less trepidation than normal.

I use a cheap bottle of pre shave cologne bought from Superdrug,It's aimed at electric shavers primarily but It's job does the same whichever way you shave.
It was only £2.49 so nothing lost if you don't like it.

Dave.
