Boar lovers rejoice.

I've just taken the Semogue out of the fridge after 20 hours of soaking and gave it a rub for 10 min. Back in the fridge for another 24 and we'll see if it works. I have to say, after the rub, it felt a tiny bit softer, but that could be my imagination. The ends are not split yet.
A solution of hair conditioner would soften them quite a bit?
Another way to speed up the break-in period; Do a test lather and dry the brush with a hair dryer.

I took it out of the vinegar solution and washed it with shampoo a couple of times to get rid of the smell. Now I'm rubbing it on to a towel as per the instructions. While shampooing it, I put it on my face and indeed it felt great for the first time. Smooth tips with backbone. Some, not all of the bristles have split and now it has a nice bloom. I think I'm getting there. I'll keep it in the fridge until tomorrow noon time and be done with it.

Nice. Too late for me, I gave up on my Semogue after 2 weeks it was still awful... Might have to try again with a Zenith.
Zenith bleached brushes have the best of the two worlds: the density and quality of a good Semogue plus as fast to break in like a bleached Omega... For a half of price! I'm really pleased with them.

Try one, you surely won't be disappointed!

Cheers

I have finished conditioning it. I must say there is considerable improvement but not as much as I would have wished for. This process does make a difference, as rubbing it onto a towel for 10 min. when wet, dublicates shaving conditions and as a Boar needs use to break in, this accomplishes it faster.

This is the ABC after a couple of days soak and a couple of towel rubs. It's in sole use now for at least 3 weeks. I'll update with further pics, see what change there is.

A boar is not just a boar, if you want soft (cloud if you like - mop in my book) buy a Zenith, will be broken in after a shave or two, if you want hard (may mean ouch to you - the real scrubby boar deal to me) buy Omega, will take about 30 shaves before it starts delivering the goods, soaking really well before each shave first two weeks might be a good idea.

I just received my Muhle boar and put it in water for a couple of hours and then rubbed it on a towel for 15 minutes. After that it softened and developed a bloom like it's being in service for a while. I lathered it up alongside my 2band finest and the vie-long boar. The Muhle was as soft as the 2band finest and both much smoother than the vie-long, while retaining the right amount of backbone. I'm impressed with the Muhle and intend to put

Odd, my experience it's quite the opposite.

Omega - never had a problem with any of their brushes. Not even one of them was scratchy, they are great out of the box, they only get better. Have about 6 or 7 of them, they are my favorite brushes. I don't have an Omega brush that I don't enjoy using.

Zenith - The bleached one it's the only one that nice to use, a bit too dense though. The unbleached one feels like sandpaper. Used it for a few times, it will break over the time, but I don't really enjoy using it. The synthetic Euro one it's unusable, extremely stiff and springy, it's painful to use and very inefficient. It's hard to even splay the damn thing.
