Calvados season is near!

My dad had a bit of an 'experience' when drinking far too much calvados in Normandy in 1944. I've always meant to try some but never got round to it. Any particular type I should look out for?

Now i am no connisseur of calvados bought some cheapo stuff in france and was not bad at all, quite drinkable smooth
i see some in sainsbury for 20 squid which i have heard good things about and will buy some very soon
for 33 squid calvados du domfrontais domaine pacers which is a really nice one.
if you like cider and brandy type spirits i think you will love calvados!
Be careful though you can put a bottle away in no time at all!

De Lachenaie from Morrisons - an impulse buy as I haven't tried it before.

I would say it's a very pleasant young (Fine) Calvados it has a pale amber colour to it (matured in Oak according to the label) and a quite a light but pronounced flavour of cider/apples/perry/wood, it smells sweeter than it tastes which was a relief. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in front of the burner reading Jane Austen and sipping it neat, brought back some great memories.
