A excellent gesture to give one away to a fellow new DE shaver..i too put a order in at Ebay, and by sheer mistake, they have dispatched two to me,but only charged me for one!..if they both arrive, i shall be passing the other on to a good friend of mine, whose help me out in the passed..regards.
I saw a suggestion on a Facebook group which suggested purchasing half a dozen for local food banks, in case people need a shave. While I have my reservations about buying a relatively aggressive DE for those who might not be accustomed to one, it's a generous idea.

I agree, that's why I want to test it out first before PIFing one. Definitely don't want to pass something around that'll chew your face up!

Absolutely - let's be fair though dialled down it's pretty reasonable. It's my second DE, the first I used only once (Wilkinson Sword cheap DE) and it's been absolutely fine. That being said, I'm relatively used to using a light hand as I started with straights.
Well it's likely most people paying $3-$6 for the Ming Shi weren't going to lay out $65 for a Merkur, so sales taken away from Merkur may not be that much.
Was it ethically questionable for Merkur to copy the basic design of the Apollo?
Was it ethically questionable for Hermes (which became Merkur) to copy the Old Type Gillette which was its contemporary?
