Come on England!

I'm at work so unable to follow on TV - was there any sign of crowd trouble?
Nope - played like a premiership match, blood and thunder but very few bookings - only one I think. Wales were unlucky not to sneak a draw. Crowd trouble will be outside the stadium after the game if it happens, then sensationalised by the media.

Nope Englishman and proud of it, I just detest the way the country stops because god know however many idiots are kicking a bit of leather around some grass!

Fish
Why care?
Shops and restaurants are open, 200 other channels to watch!!!.
If I can avoid a formula 1 result for 3 days I'm sure you can avoid 90mins of football.

but why should those of us who do not like football have to suffer, yet we're not allowed time off to watch another sport when it's on TV?

Wales played with passion, England went for it -especially from the start of 2nd half- and were lucky at the end to get the result they wanted.

Looking at the whole thing from a wider perspective, and for a team with history and capabilities like England, the point is how well (or not) will the team stand up against teams like Germany, Spain, and also against teams like the very cheeky - always playing self-centered football Italians.

I've heard here in Greece that England have a smashing team with low average age but also that they deserve a less old-fashioned coach/manager. I hope this is proved wrong and the team does great, we need to see this and it is achievable.

There may be more matches to be decided near the end of the 90' time, which will give excitement to all us watching.

I thought Wales played reminiscent to Leicester with Ramsey-Mahrez, Bale-Vardy, hard centre backs. Played with passion but offered little threat. The free kick should have been saved and Sterling should have scored in the opening minutes making it 3-0 and comfortable (Bale actually should have scored at the end with his header). Worrying thing is Roy will never start Rooney, Rashford, Sturridge and Vardy against anyone. So have we figured out our best formation or even starting 11 yet? Erm.... The papers will knock Kane and Sterling's confidence down, which will in turn weaken the team. Unless Roy can figure it out. Erm...

We have been led to believe that defence was our weakness, but so far so good,no injuries, very few cards, looking mostly safe, Hart is still being picked for his reaction saves, despite his constant poor decision making, yes he should have saved the free kick.

8 blue shirts in the box makes life hard for even the best attack, we need to be quicker, we have the pace, but not so far using it to the best potential.

Roll on Monday, still all or nothing match.

The best team won first game of football I've watched in 40 years and the last one.
I thought I was going to watch the last three minutes and would be able to tolerate that, but of course, there were thirteen minutes to go - then plus extra/injury/whatever time - but I made it to the end. Sheesh!

I couldn't figure why 'attacking' players messed about on the 22 waiting for the opposition defenders to get back. Seemed a bit counter-productive to me.

Passing accuracy rate was appalling, too - both sides.

I liked that last goal, though! Sneaky!

Sterling has really blunted his development by going to ManC, and has lost a lot of confidence. He should have stayed at Liverpool where he was getting lots of opportunities. If he doesn't kick on under Pep (who was happy to leave Gotze on the bench all the time) then he will probably be another career wasted by the super rich clubs. But then his bank balance probably doesn't care.

I've long thought that Football could, and should, use the same timing system that Rugby does - with the referee signalling when to stop the clock, but otherwise the game ends when 90 minutes is reached. The benefit is that it would put an end to arbitrary time added on for time wasting, simulation, substituting players etc. I guess there would have to be agreements as to when the ref actually stops play at full time e.g. Penalties, free kicks etc would still go ahead - in other words, there would be some latitude that takes account of a natural break in play.

Any thoughts?

That, right there is the modern English game in a nutshell and it's why England will never win anything.

Players, managers and owners only care about the Champions League ... not the National team where the only reward is pride. Seems to be an inconvenience for most.
A lot of sweepingly easy to make comments there.
Top flight footballers all over the world earn silly money, not just premiership players, The England team have donated their payroll to charity for some time now, so guys who have been playing the game since they were 5 with love for the game, suddenly change at what price point £500 a week ? £5,000 ?.
5 Spurs players in the starting lineup, seemed pretty keen on winning the premier title to me.
