My favourite posts on SOTD have a list of hardware and software, a photo and a comment but I realise everyone doesn't have time to do that.
Which do you prefer, a list only, a pic only, or a list, pic and comment?
If you have time please give a reason.

I've asked the question so I suppose I'll have to give my preference and reason why.

All three because I don't know every piece of every bit of shavernalia out there, I like to read people's opinions and I like to see the shaving porn.

I'm much the same Kevin, a photo of your kit ,a list of your kit and then a little write up talking about how your kit performed and how you felt the shave went.
This is just my ideal.....I realise that people may not have the time to do all of these thing's or perhaps don't feel confident in their photography skills, however as I have learned recently you don't need to be a top photographer because the vast majority of those viewing them don't mind. They would just like (if possible) to see a quick snap and to be frank if anyone requires more they should buy a glossy magazine and view the pro photos there, This is a shaving forum and not a photography forum ! :)
Happy shaving people :) Paul.

Much the same view, a photo, a list and a comment (or story -adds to the read). And in my case give it a title (God knows why)

I use to post somewhat regularly but a change of job and more grandchildren appearing doesn't really allow for that bit of extra time it takes. Things seem to be settling down a bit now so hope to return to SOTD

My sentiments entirely. I've seen some really beautiful photos but without an inventory I've been left scratching my head over what the beautiful razor or brush was.

I've gone for 'all three'. I personally think that someone, somewhere, may want to read what I've got to write. Whether it's my plans for the day, my take on a razor/soap/blade/other or just to read my ramblings, someone might take interest (or so I tell myself). I also find it quite therapeutic to take said photo as I see it in my 'minds eye' or suchlike, edit it as I please then write about said hardware.

In a similar vein, I also quite enjoy reading other's views. What I especially like is the contrast some face regarding certain razors. It seems like us shavers, unlike some other enthusiast groups, are happy to accept that YMMV. It is, however, interesting to find those divisive razors and soaps and see why one may like it when another may not.

I like reading comments too
Iain tells a good yarn !

I've simply forgotten how to posts pictures since f@$kbucket messed things up !

When I started I'd post a terrible picture along with a complete list of the kit used right down to how many shaves were on the blade and then a long winded paragraph of waffle which seemed more like a debriefing detailing how I found each and every item performed.

I now post bad pictures (as opposed to terrible :D) no kit list as its tedious both for me to write and for others to read, If I want to know what something is I'll ask and hope others will do the same... If I have a comment to make for example first use of a new item I will, otherwise not.

I suspect we all use the SOTD section differently, for me its a show and tell, hopefully more showing than telling but for others its something of a shave diary which is perfectly fine, just not something I wish to do myself although its inevitable sometimes.
