Getting back into CAD

Just want to see what I can do. isn't much info on how designs affect performance so I fancy a play. Got a 3d printer at work so I'll see if I can sneak a couple.

Also at fancied a super light travel razor and matching box!!!

James, I always found your soaps and strops to be top-shelf, but I can't understand if you're designing this head for possible production, or just to occupy your time? I'll be a Dutch Uncle here and say there are enough razors and razor heads on the market as it is. If you're thinking about re-entering the market-place, most of us would like to see the rebirth of your soaps and creams. That's where your proven forte lies! :)

This is just for me to mess around with Steve.

However, I have been selling soaps again since roughly November!

Here she is.

Not as clean as I hoped, but I'll giver her a go anyway.

The handle and head weigh 7 grams. Acre weighs 3. Needs a threaded insert in the handle which I'll guess right now is about 3 grams too, making 13grams total.

I'm already making plans for how to change the design to better accommodate 3d printing.

Thoughts please!

Just realised I can't add the picture as it's on my phone.

Will add it tonight.

When this lightweight project is over why not test your skills by making a cool looking nice handling shavette with inserts for se blades from feather/kai/schick, injector blades, de blades in half, hair shaper blades :)

Plenty of barbers out there using shavettes potentially interested in a cool looking new one but of course a new DE would be more popular among forum shavers, maybe short lived as it tends to be like flavour of the day, still marketing is easy as we are all gathered here on the forum :)

I think that the barbers use shavettes is that while it loooks impressive to the customer, it is a cheap option on running costs. How many customers would know the difference between a shavette aty £10 to £20, and a Feather DX at over £200?

Looking at Connaughts pricing for bulk blades, Feather Artist Clubs work out at 54p per blade, Schick Proline P-30 at 42p per blade, or buy 500 Lord Saloon blades for £12.00, which works out at 2.4p per blade.
