I accept that people can ask any price they wish for an item but if a member finds the said price laughable or offensive, why are they not permitted to comment?
When a poster asks over £100 for a tub of soap surely a few sarcastic comments are expected and good for the forums health.

Spot on. I was just taking the pi** out of a pi** take sale :)

I agree Kevin. We are, hopefully, a supportive community and it would be remiss of us not to prevent a fellow member from being stung.

If you find price laughable, have a laugh and move on, will do both the forum and your health good.
Having a laugh and being able to share your opinion is good for both the forum and ones health.

What upset me was, I'd just got the OP (@Olie29) to admit "the price is irrelevant" and offered him £15 when my comments were removed for a second time.

I've dealt with Olie, and his deals were fair and the outcome was positive. It was actually a B&M soap I bought from him, although at a normal price!

My personal opinion is that, if you want to sell for a profit, and buyers will pay it, then so be it. But a forum, with no selling fees is not the place to profiteer. It's abusing the generous facility provided by the forum owner(s), and is not appropriate.

Very true Barry.
Perhaps the rules need tweaking beyond the initial member period.
Perhaps, but just having the right to reply (like across the street), would be a step in the right direction.

He is having a laugh asking over £100 for a soap, but it's his right to ask and mine to scoff and not buy it. He knows it's a stupid price but the rules are that we don't point it out, when it doesn't sell he'll put two and two together.

If he has enough nerve to post a soap for £108* he surely has enough nerve to take a few questions about his pricing policy.

Are you just simple, the price is the price and it's not up for discussion, what I paid is irrelevant and discussing the price on my post is against the rules as it clearly says PM me, if you have something to say be a man and speak to me one on one instead of hanging about posting comments with your buddies on my thread coz that's just bullying to me...back in the school playground !

We weren't discussing what you paid for it.
I was talking about the price you were asking.
You said the price was irrelevant and I said in that case I'll give you £15 for it.
I mentioned your name on this thread as you deserve the right to reply, just as I deserve the right to reply on your thread.
Asking £108 for a soap I purchased for £12.44, (with postage from Oz £24.03 in total) and not expecting a sarcastic reply is either naive, mercenary, or completely out of sync with your fellow humans.

@Olie29 if you would like to purchase my unused Diamond for £64 plus post and PayPal fees then please PM me, you can make quite a healthy profit on it.

This is a sensible post. If @Olie29 genuinely believes he can shift a tub for £100+ he would take you up on it.

Every poster has the right to ask what they want. What difference is there between what he did and the guys asking £60 for a straight which eventually they sell for £35, three weeks later after a number of price drops? If they'd sold it at first posting to some newbie, you could probably call that gouging too.

Every seller has the right to ask what they want, and every potential buyer has the right to say no or counter with an offer.
