Yesterday I set off on one of my well known marches into the Brecon beacons an 8 miler with my boy Oscar who just so happens to be a Bedlington Terrier, weather cold nasty drizzle I picked up the pace 8 miles complete in 2 hours 15 minutes feeling good not bad for someone 4 years short of my sixtieth birthday.

Beautiful country

St. Patrick's Day parade downtown SF.

I thought St Patrick's day was on the 17th........?

It's still on the 17th but the parade is on the weekend before because it would had been a nightmare holding up traffic on a work week. Same in Chicago, etc.

The same goes for Chinese New Year parades, etc - the parades are on the closest possible weekend but the actual date of the event is of course not moved and still celebrated - sans parade.

Ah! Okay thought it was summat like that. I'll probably be out at my local blowing the cream off a couple of pints of Guinness on Tuesday!

The streets here are still rather empty but at least the sun is up [attachment=13499]

That was a great day.

We took our son to Exeter for the Gold Chief Scout award day and presentation ceremony. There were 90 Devon Scouts there all being presented with the highest badge a Scout can gain. I was there for his special day and I also helped with the Air Gun range activity which was great too. Very proud of our son, next up for him is representing Devon Scouts and the UK at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan this July. Then he will be starting as a Young Leader which will help to his DofE. Another day surrounded by great Young People and fellow leaders, which has left me feeling proud and privileged to be a part of Scouting.

Hate to be negative. But the snow and sleet has started. Temps going to hold around 0C for tomorrow with more snow. Not massive amounts but it's April... Shouldn't this be over???

Snow again today... No accumulation, it's just the idea of it still being cold and watching it falling....

Not a bad day here. Been out with SWMBO spot of shopping for my son, getting him ready for his trip to Japan in July. Got back and the postman delivered this.

A stainless steel Klean Kanteen 1pt pot ready for this years Scout camps.

So I sat down with 25ft of Paracord and made a cover to stop the heat of all the tea it will be containing.
