I need to find new soaps!

Billy would undoubtedly tell you to use a tallow soap with one of ' his ' straights. OSP are back on stream now and would likely fit the bill.

When I started out straight shaving a couple of months ago I definitely needed more water in my lather. What was okay for a de was far too dry & sticky for a straight shave.

I found that sticking with one soap helped a lot too, I used the same brush & soap (La toja stick) for around a month, plenty of new tricks to learn without making it more difficult by chopping & changing soaps.

In 2 months I've had one DE shave & I wouldn't go back, I wavered a little at the beginning though, most of my trouble was down to a dry lather & poor stropping.

I use a thin lather of the shaving soap or cream and work it on my face. Then I apply the proper lather on top. This is better than any pre shave product I have tried in the past.
