Injector Blades

Hi, Andreas,

I wouldn't have thought there would be enough room to get a double Blade in a Christy.......Its quite a tight fit with a single blade........I mean, the Christy is just a perfect set up with a single blade and any manipulation of the head might perhaps throw out the balance of such a perfect set up.....

But, Paul is the man, when it comes down to the Christy though......:icon_razz:

Darn. I might have to use some of my 300 or so normal injector blades then ;)

Yeah, it'd be tight ... very tight, but do-able. Single edge simplifies things and you'll find out that you don't need a twin blade loaded in a Christy - it will happily shave you sub-cutaneously with just one :D
I don't 'need' a twin blade in a Schick injector either, but I can - so I will. I know they don't work for you Paul, but I always go back to my Schick Golden 500 for the closest and most pleasant shaves ever. Doesn't stop me trying whatever I can lay my hands on. My first 'inherited' straight should be back from honing next week. Now that scares me. ;)

... not for lack of trying or for lack of love for their looks. With the Keen Kutter (and Christy), I've found what I love about the look of injectors as well as a razor which really shaves. Dive in! These are a lovely branch of injector capable razors which are a lot of fun to play with.

Oh for God's sake, I am probably gonna buy one of those goofy things, Been seeing em in the wild for years for not much cash and never considered using it.

Ok, I will see how I feel when I run into something but will end up taking a new infernal shaving device home most likely.

Had a few too many enablers ganging up on me....sheesh.

Oof! Let's hope your baby face is still there after the shave :D

I know, I could get hurt! Knowing your preference for pain, I am naturally skeptical about the source of help or advice.....heh. Already thinking of that thing as a rather expensive and goofy looking sinker onna perch rig , so everything's good!

Hi Paul

Yeah, the PAL Injectors are not for the Faint Hearted that's for sure........
I've not got round to using an NOS Blade in a PAL Injector, but I did guess that it would be some experience as you have found out...:icon_razz:

I had my first shave the other day with a Chinese Schick Injector Blade in my PAL Adjustable and I must say that I am seriously impressed with how these perform in PAL Injectomatics...

I find that these blades tone down the PAL Injectors, somewhat, whilst being very sharp and really smooth performers......I am also finding my PAL Injectors to be more forgiving and am never aware of any feeling of cold steel anyway near my face......I did have a bit of irritation, however, as I pushed the PAL Adjustable/Chinese Blade Combo to its Max just to see "what was up" with them as Martin would put it......What a learning curve though.......:icon_mrgreen:

I have never had the PAL Adjustable on its Highest most Aggressive Setting....Its such an efficient shaver on the middle to middle/right setting ......The PAL adjustable is such an excellent shaving tool....An outstanding piece of engineering even by todays standards......:s

Yeah, those NOS Dutch Made Schick Platinum Plus Blades are like Surgically Sharp.....I have never come across a blade anything like as sharp as them.....Wow ! ......I am that impressed with these NOS Schick Blades that I was going to press the button on a Schick Krona DE because of the NOS Schick DE Blade availability.....Fergiebilly the Turn Coat......MMMMmmmmm......... But I need to Test Drive the PAL Injector- NOS Blade Road.......:icon_razz:

Great to hear your experience with them.....

The PAL Inject-o-matic was the one injector (Gillette aside) that almost gave me shave!

LOL!

I have noticed that, except for the Injecto-Matic, I don't feel as if there is much shaving happening but when I'm finished the beard has gone!

The PAL adjustable is great. I use it half-way and go to max for two little awkward spots.

I now have a Featherweight courtesy of Dave-the-Rave which I shall try tomorrow.

it's all happening!

NOS Personna Platinum Chrome Injector Blade (New)

Alphy & Becs Natural Shaving Soap - With Jojoba Oil - Vitamin E
Organic Aloe Vera Gel

My first shave with newly acquired NOS Personna Platinum Chrome Injector Blades.....Here again I am impressed with these NOS Post War production Injector Blades...:icon_razz:.
I found the shaving characteristics of the NOS Personna Platinum Chrome Blade to be somewhat different from current production Personna Stainless Blades....I found them to be smoother and more than a bit sharper......There is less audible feedback with these blades than the current ones......:icon_rolleyes:

For me at least, all these Post War Production NOS Blade have an energetic feeling about them compared to current Stainless Blades.....I find that there is less audible feedback, but paradoxically there appears to be lot more of what I would Describe as a Subtle Energetic Feedback from the Blade that I cannot quite find the words for..... These blades feel more alive somehow....

These particular Blades are from an Old USA Drug Store....They have "Made by The American Safety Razor Company" on the back of the Package......My understanding is that these are Personna Blades.......My personal preference is the Dutch Made Schick Platinum Blades which I must say are exceedingly sharp......Next for me, would be the USA Made Schick Krona Edge Blades which are really smooth and seem to stick to my face like a slippery eel....:icon_rolleyes:

I am amazed at the shaving quality of all of these NOS Post War production Injector Blades.....Its a wee bit of a hassle tracking them down, and they are more expensive, but anybody that pursues some of these NOS Blades will be rewarded with the Injector Shave of their Lives.....:icon_razz:.

My Christy arrived yesterday after a quick journey from the US. First impression: Goodness - it is pretty! Pencil thin handle with a lovely (although in this case very tarnished in places) fine pattern. The head with its steep angle is very elegant as well and the baseplate is pure genius. I spent hours soaking, scrubbing, ultrasonic clean and polish the handle. Still needs a lot more work until it will be as shiny as I like my razors. But I decided to take it for a spin this morning. Getting the injector blade in is a bit fiddly but can be done with care. Paul's photos help to put the mind at ease with regards to placement of the blade. I used a modern blade from Connaught as I get on with them nicely and the rubbish plastic holder is not an issue in this case.
The shave was merely OK though. I love how this lightweight handles. It felt quite aggressive for such a wee razor, but it didn't draw any blood. It was fun while it lasted, but after four passes the result was not as close as I expected. I had to do a fifth pass with (Heretic! some would exclaim)... my trustworthy Schick Golden 500.
Will I use it again? Certainly. It will be one of my prettiest and most elegant razors when shiny and it doesn't cut up my face. Reason enough - and I had fun. I should maybe try Chinese Schick blades or NOS blades in it. I'll leave the incoming TwinJector blades for different models.
Did I mention that this is one pretty razor?

Now, Christy recommend that the angle is about 45 degrees! That would put the handle about parallel with the face. Personally, even I'd find that pretty aggressive. Some folks are using them with the cap flat to the face, like an injector, and report a good, but mild shave.

Something in between is always going to be right ...

Yeah, lovely, aren't they?

Check out the bakelite handled Keen Kutters! :D

I just looked at the instructions that came with mine. Looks like 40 degrees. Yikes. Not on my watch. I wasn't flat, but not far off. I'll experiment with blades and angle then.
As pretty as they are... my curiosity is quenched now. If I'd spot one in the wild in the UK for small money I might be tempted, but that seems unlikely. I paid more on postage from the US than on the razor itself. My RAD is not cured, but not as bad as it used to be.

Hi Andreas,

That's great, I was using an NOS Schick Platinum Blade in the Christy...For me anyway the Christy deserves no less......The Schick Platinum's are Dangerously Sharp.....I have never came across a Blade so Sharp .......There is "NO" modern injector blade that can look near them.....These have got to be experienced to realize how Un - sharp modern blades are.... Modern Injector blades are Mediocre by Comparison....:icon_rolleyes:

In the height of the Post War Years manufacturers' in the USA were using cutting edge technologies to produce Blades that had come from the technological revolutionary advancement's from the War Machine and early Jet Fighter and Rocket technologies.....:icon_razz:

They strived to make a product par excellence.....Sadly, those days are gone, but the reminisce of these men's work is still there thanks to Flea- Bay.....

To be honest I am managing to get NOS Blades for about the same price as Chinese Schick Blades....

Mr Christy deserves the Best.....:icon_razz:
