Injector Blades

Has anyone used this blade before? I snagged two NOS cartridges:

I decide to try the Dutch Schuck Platinum in a "tamer" razor: the J Model injector. This tempered the harsh sharpness at least 50% and made for a more agreeable shave. Regardless, this is the sharpest feeling injector blade I have used. Whether that be due to a lack of the best coatings at that time or magical elves honing each one I know not. Perhaps it was made for export only and for Cossacks(?). Dodgy made the correct call here. If you don't pay careful attention with this one it'll bite ya!!

Well, I tamed this "beast". Slipped a new Dutch Platinum into the Schick Model M adjustable and set it on "5". That did it!! Next time I will try "7" as "5" is somewhat mild. With Wickham Spice Trade soap it made for a great smooth shave. :)

OK, I went to "7" on the M Model using Tabac soap and boy howdy!! Top 'o the mountain, boys!! ;) I backed it off to "5" to clean up the chin area after the first pass and it was like ice skating!! Smooth & sharp!! That said, I am still believing the NOS Gillette Platinum Plus is just a frog hair smoother. Forgive me FB, et al.

I had about 65 or so of these in DE form, but sold almost all last Fall as the profit margin was hard to ignore. I was one of the few who was not totally swept away by their performance in the past. Yes it's a Helluva blade, but I never got the astronomical amount of shaves from one that many claim. Color me curious as to how they work in injector form. Ill try to use one in the next week.

If you find you don't get on with them give me a shout, I have never had the chance to use these blades but I gather they are very good indeed. I won't hold my breath! :)

Well, one shave down and it was a SOB getting one blade unstuck!! Sometimes NOS blades stick together like they've been Super glued as the old preservative oil dries to a shellac. I had to "denude" the blade bunch out of the magazine and soak in rubbing alcohol to get one free.

Loaded into the M Model Schick the shave was not spectacular. To be frank, there was roughness. I never swooned over this particular blade like many others have in DE form, so it's no surprise. Perhaps it will get smoother with usage.

I've only seen the 74 DE blades but never the injectors, they are supposed to last and last and they are as rare as hens teeth so I dare say people are asking over the odds.

Ironically, what s great about an injector is the change mechanism, so why would you want a blade that lasts and lasts forever !

Have you seen the price of Schicks from Japan or prolines? Why wouldn't you want your blade to last as long as possible? I agree with you regarding the mechanism but why wouldn't you want a blade to last as long as possible and still provide a good shave? :)
