Yes. DE blades are pretty straight forward, can always just put a mark on them. Injectors are a real problem

2 shaves and out. At 10p a blade, I can't be bothered with the sense that the 3rd shave is likely to be of a lower standard.

I've built an Access database and can extract information such as best razor for blade and best blade for razor. Automatically updates when I enter new information. Great at helping me keep track of my collection and what I used and when.
I think I'll go for a nice lie down now.

@Taipan - any chance of a copy of your Access DB - I'm using a s/sheet with lots of pivot tables but it's getting unwieldy now!

I work in the financial management section of a large district hospital so I look at spreadsheets pretty much all day every day, except Saturday and Sunday thankfully.

My system revolves around my five closed comb Merkurs and five blades I like to use. I can get six shaves out of each so 30 days and then the rotation starts again. Also on the 3rd and 6th use I pop the blade into one of my backup razors so I get variety - slant, open comb, adjustable, vintage. It works as follows

34C + Astra SP
38C + Gillette 7 o'clock SS
30C + Shark SS
23C + Boots DE
42C + Wilkinson Sword

The backup razors aren't used in any particular order just what I would like to use at the time.

I was thinking that I could then start again with the 34C but with the Gillette then 38C + Shark and so on. However I would end up having to setup a spreadsheet to keep a track of what to use and I think you can guess that I definitely can't be bothered.

I'll one up on the "skinflintiness" in that I merely write the # of uses on the outside of the outer paper blade wrapper with a Sharpie pen.

On the other hand, I load a blade, use it 'til it feels like it's going downhill and then bin it.

How do you know when you get to four uses? There's no way I can remember cycling through a couple dozen razors.

That's the thing. I just use one razor until I change blade.
