Latest in Synthetics

That chart has been around awhile and while very helpful, it also leads right back to what Norfolkdick said above:

...This is where it all becomes very difficult and confusing and of course personal views/reviews whilst always helpful are always subject to the preferences/in built bias of the reviewer...

Just as with any new & unknown product, you have to find a reviewer whom you trust and have personally verified their previous choices and then place your bet(s). :)

Well it appears that outside of Silvertip and Black fibre v2 from MÜHLE which are from 2013, there is a choice of DuPont Plissoft/Yaqi Black from 2014 or BASF fibres in various colours from 2016. I didn't like the look of FS - although I may have one, HIS, Omega and Kent synthetics.

I ordered a Tuxedo and a Cashmere, both via links on Yaqi's Facebook page. It appears they are different sellers as they have been shipped separately. I am not impressed with the Tuxedo, the Cashmere hasn't arrived. The seller is DS Cosmetic. Did I get a genuine Tuxedo?

I have just compared the Tuxedo to two unused RazoRock brushes, a Plissoft and a Silver Tip. The Tuxedo is springy and not as soft as the other two. Both RR's are very soft and splay very easily.

Well just looked at the Tuxedo in the chart. This looks like what a Tuxedo should be, but I am sure everyone said the Tuxedo was soft.

DSCosmetic appears to be where APShave get his handles so although not a Yaqi, it should be the genuine article. How big is the glue bump? That tends to dictate performance of the knot to a large degree. Tuxedo are soft but not as soft as a Plissoft and have far greater density and backbone/reluctance to splay.

I also sold my Tuxedo after a couple of uses. Sounds like the Cashmere will be more up your street.
