What's the current in vogue synthetic brush? Silver Tip? Tuxedo? Cashmere?

I have been using Plissofts, with a black fibre for travel. I have an unused Cashmere.

There are the Ubersoft II, Fauxmere, Gamechanger/Boss. What are the differences? Can we not give them all the same names?

I tell a lie, it's a RR Silver Tip not a Cashmere.

SynBad looks like the Yaqi Mew Brown knot, which I think someone here said is the same fibre as the Plissoft/Cashmere/Tuxedo.

The SynBad is definitely not the same fibre as the Plissoft/Cashmere/Tuxedo, however as most YaQi innovation as of late seems to have been purely cosmetic, it's quite possible the Yaqi Mew Brown is. A review will confirm one way or the other

Yes, you're right, I made a mistake, I had a look at the review with the info about the Yaqi Mew Brown brush, and Cristobal said it was like the Black Fibre not the Tuxedo fibre as I said above. Here is Cristobal's quote

"Performance
In conclusion, the behavior of the Mew Brown knot is very similar to the Black Fibre.

IMO the SynBad does look like the Mew Brown knot though.

I can say with near certainty from 10 days worth of use that the SynBad isn't a variant on Black Fibre like the Mew Brown could be. Best description I can give for the SynBad is Cashmere, but with a bit more backbone. Tips are definitely softer than Black Fibre

Well its here, I've not used it yet but can already tell its definitely not a variant of the black fibre... Feels closer to the Tuxedo, albeit with less backbone.

It seems likely to me that Synbad and Mew are different names for the same thing.

Used it now... A damn fine brush.

Three fibres lost on the first use...

I'm sticking with my initial assessment that they are the same fibres as the tuxedo/cashmere/plissoft which is exactly what Yaqi have said on the matter. Only difference is colour, loft and knot density... Which is the opposite of what others have said above so not much help I'm afraid.

I may order an APShave Synbad to compare.

That's a very nice brush indeed. Yaqi's new batch of handles which includes yours and the Moka one IMO look fantastic.

What is the glue bump like? I have 2 Yaqi Tuxedo brushes with the Red Barbershop having a high 13mm glue bump and the Mysterious Space Fan has a 4mm high knot. Even though the brushes have the same fibre they are very different in use.

The handle looks better up close:

Knot measures 25x50mm with a vanishingly small glue bump, 2-3mm only. They really nailed it with this one, performance is just right for face lathering.

You're right about it looking better closer up, an absolute stunner of a brush. I need to keep telling myself I don't need another brush! :)

It's loft, knot and glue bump seem similar in proportions to my Mysterious Blue Fan Tux which has a knot of 28mm, a loft of 56mm and a glue bump of 4mm - it's a superb brush for using shaving sticks to face lather.
