Menthol cream recommendations

Discussion in 'Shaving Creams' started by Burry, Saturday February 4, 2017.

  1. I note you've already used it but, like Graeme, I couldn't let a menthol cream thread go past without praising Ingram. Excellent stuff and so easily available in the UK I've never felt the need to try an alternative. Not being bothered about fancy scents I like how it smells too. From what I've read Kent cream gets good reviews but I've never tried it.

Have used LEA and that's the strongest menthol I have used so far, not a face freezer but definitely noticeable.

I found the Kent menthol barely noticeable.

If you can track it down, the Williams menthol shaving cream certainly has a nice cooling effect and performance is top notch also.

I've had 3 shaves with the Kent now - I find it pretty cold for my tastes, certainly colder than proraso green. It doesn't seem very cold at first, but by the end of 2 or 3 passed I'm feeling it. It's a great cream. Sounds like the LEA menthol might be stronger than I would want

  10. I see, to be honest I didn't noticed the Manky grease pit but having said that I haven't used Ingrams almost a year now due to high number of soaps and creams in circulation. I had a runny tube once and to be fair it didn't look very good, however the statement from Ingrams said it's perfectly safe to use but it didn't look good. Nevertheless it's a good cream in my opinion.

I'm usually in France a couple of times a year, its available there in most supermarkets and pharmacies and I normally pick up a tube when needed, not sure of there is an online source or not.

There's also a Spanish version of Williams shaving cream, haven't used this one myself, but there are places to order this version online, such as here:

It's a great cream - I tend to get a good lather out of it and it's a subtle cooling sensation without a huge amount of smell. I think I'll be using it today actually and following up with some Osage rub! Brrr.

I have both the grapefruit & Menthol and the Eucalyptus & Menthol in a cream. Id you like my UKWSS soap then i'd go for the grapefruit.

  15. Son-of-a-gun, is Palmolive Menthol ever cold - it makes Proraso Green feel insignificant!

  16. I've used the Kent Luxury cream, Proraso Green and Ingrams. I really like Ingrams - lathers well, great menthol slap kicking in as I finish the first pass and only £1.75 in Superdrug.

Meissner Tremonia Gentle Menthol is a current favourite of mine.

ADP contains a hint of menthol and is excellent.

Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore is also lovely.
