Mild Razors

Hello folks... I haven't posted on here in a long time, following an agreement with my wife about the amount of shaving kit that I'd acquired.

I've been DE shaving for 5 years now, and have finally come to accept that my skin much prefers a mild razor. My daily shave these days is a Wilkinson Sword Sticky that's beginning to show the signs of age (it already had a small crack when I acquired it) and so I'm beginning to think about what might replace it.

I already own a Gillette Slim, Black Beauty and Fat Tech, a Merkur Futur and an EJ DE89, plus GEM Clog-Pruf and Ever Ready Streamline SE razors. None of the above suit me quite as well as the Sticky.

So... given that stickies are mega expensive these days, it opens up the question: what other mild DE's should I be considering?

On the cheap? Gillette Tech.

Not necessarily - also, the Fat Tech I've got isn't all that great. I'd probably rather have something with a bit of a sense of occasion!

Not on the cheap then? Feather AS-D2. Mild and beautiful.
In the middle? Hone Type 15a

The feather is very tempting, but I hadn't even heard of the Hone. I'll have a read of some reviews - it looks very nice.

I found the Feather ASD2 too mild and sold it but the Hone type 15 (brass) would be an excellent choice, I love mine, mild but effective.

+1 on the Hone Type 15, especially the brass. Very hardwearing and a mild shaver, heavyweight of a razor too, but a wee bit pricey.

Get a fat boy, it will last you a lifetime and when you grow older and your stubble becomes harder, dial it up a notch.

Schick Krona. Sold all my Gillette TTOs in favor of the Schick. Buy four of them for your friends for the price of a Fatboy.

I wrestled with the Fatboy purchase when I first started, but settled for the smaller fiscal outlay on a Slim. I don't think an FB would be different enough to warrant the spend now!

I've never even considered a Schick - looking at the price, it's a cheap way to get a good shave. That said, all the talk of the Hone is quite appealing!
