Mild Razors

I've read through the Rockwell review and impressions - cracking write up! Thanks for taking the time to do it, and also to everyone who contributed to the Hone pass around. I'm totally stuck between them at the moment!!
What about an ATT M1,i use this very often and is a mild razor

Depends whether you mean mild or gentle? I have a Parker 24c and that is efficient but gentle. I would also recommend the Merkur 37C slant. Ignore all the bollocks online (unforgivably from some vendors about it being for experienced only). It is efficient but super gentle and forgiving. I have not had so much as a weeper with mine.

That's such a subtle distinction! I know (for example) Sticky gets a bit of a hammering for being an inefficient shaver. From my perspective, I've given up on daily BBS or even DFS. Tidied up and no shaving rash will do for me! As such, a WTG / XTG with the Sticky is perfect. The DE89 (for a long time my favourite) is next on the list, but still gives me lumps and bumps.

I would guess that the 89 is the more efficient razor and the Sticky gentler? Basically, having accepted a non-smooth result, it then becomes about which razor does the least damage for two passes!

I did have the pass around slant back in the day, and got on fairly well with it, but didn't get a notably better shave than I got with the DE89 or black beauty that were my only razors at that time. That said, you only keep the pass around for a day or two so it's possible that I didn't give it long enough.

The Wilkinson Sword Classic is really good. It gets dropped into my rotation when I want something mild. Personally, I find the head on my Merkurs to be just right and milder than my DE89.

I only do a three pass shave on Wednesday and Sunday. The rest of the week I just do a two pass shave with touch-ups resulting in less irritation and better looking skin.

I don't have a great knowledge and experience with DE razors but compared to my slim adjustable, slim twist, flare tip.. I would say Wilkinson Classic, Timor twist to open and Weishi are milder

If you're after something that's practically free, A Feather Popular punches well above its weight. £14 delivered !!

Good enabling skills there It's been on my list to consider for a while (given the cost, or lack thereof) and I might have to do so. That said, I'm also looking for something a bit special (perhaps not ASD2 special) so I can put the monkey back in the box for another 12 months or so!

I know everyone is different but it is mix and match with me. If I have a fair bit of growth (three days or so) the 37C or the 24C with an Astra or Polsilver are great. If it is one or two days the 24c or even better the DE89 with a Voshkod takes some beating as that blade is soo smooth in those razors (for some reason not as impressive in the slant).

In regard to bumps I would say go easy and maybe try an alum block. I get flare ups on my neck too so now I just do one careful downward pass on my neck (three passes as per rest of my face is a disaster there no matter what the razor or blade) and that suffices. Also beat the hell out of your soap. I use Wickham, OSP, Nannies, Prorasso and TFS on main rotation (Phoenix and Beau sometimes in a scuttle) and I build lather in puck for at least 40 seconds until it has a yoghurt like comsistency. That gives me the required cushion.

Thanks @matteob ! I've actually got a routine that works for me now... it's basically 2 passes with a mild razor (the Sticky that's on its last legs!) using a thick lather (generally proraso) and a Gillette 7 o'clock yellow blade. So not much different than you suggest! Leaving behind the search for a BBS every morning was definitely helpful
