Muhle 2011 R41 - Ebay £200??

All this talk of a hugely appreciating asset made me throw my own 2011 R41 back in rotation after a few months absence - this morning I loaded a new blade, and proceeded. It is a genuinely good razor, giving a clean, close shave. My 3 x adjustables (FatBoy, Slim & Digress) even on their most aggressive settings can't equal it, but my small Fatip Piccolo razor can, and it cost me less than £15. So, the 2011 R41 as a £35 razor is excellent, but really can't see that it's a £100+ shaver!

Still 3 days to go and at £114! I suppose that is supply and demand. Most people probably can't pick up a Fatboy for the price it originally went for after all. That being said over a ton for a razor shaped cheese grater! (In my experience :))

Incidentally this self same razor was only at £35 two days ago!!

Some people have more money than sense, I could understand it if it were a rare Toggle or a bottom dial but a R41!!!
Probably just shy of 100,000 Toggles were produced. I wonder how many 2011 R41s were actually sold given the limited appeal of such an aggressive razor.

I don't know, it would be intresting to know though. I did say a rare Toggle though ..eg 1956 gold toggle. How about the 2008 R41? How many of those do you think we're made, I have not seen one for sale .

I know what you mean when you say most people probably can't pick up a Fatboy for the price it originally went for $1.95...and if the R41 was that old I don't think anyone would be shocked at the price they have just recently been going for on eBay. A mint 58 Fatboy could fetch £200 plus on a good day. The 2011 R41 has got a bit of a cult status thing going on at the moment and like a lot of things come in or go out of popularity, who knows what will be the next sought after razor fetching seemingly silly money on Ebay? Gillette proglide!! :)

The 'Cult' following was more what I was referring to than age/OOP - the Fatboy was a poor example, and I know they still go for a lot, but 6/7 years or so ago, the cult following was for them and some went for a ridiculous price!

What did, the Fatboys? How much were they going for 6/7 years ago....I don't know . But that's what I was trying to say these fads happen and then it will be another razor next year that will have people talking like we are now.

Yeah. I saw some very poor examples sold for a lot of cash as so many people wanted one.

I think we are saying the same thing about cult following certain items that are flavour of that particular month. :D
