My Volvo 1800ES

P1800 coupe is one of my favourite all time cars after watching The Saint growing up.

Your car Sir - is stunning. Even with it being the 'family' version :)

The "Familiy Version" is a good one.
But Yes, I use the car with my familiy. This would not work with a Coupé.

Here is a cut out of a 1973 Volvo sales brochure. There the Volvo Guys explain their intention of the Estate body. ;)
There is actually a myth that the deepth of the laggage compartment was defined by the size of a golf bag.

Please tell me you don't put lawnmowers and bikes in yours haha !

Very rare these days - and not many are used as daily drivers now. A real shame as beautiful cars seem a thing of the past on our roads.

With the Danish Volvo P1800 Club, we do have a tradition to meet with the gents from the Jaguar Club Denmark once a year just North of Copenhagen. Yesterday evening it was time again and as a novelty a few Austin Healey 3000 joined us too. So now it gets British ... ;)

A nice weekend to all of you.

With the sunny weather this morning and the fact in mind that the season not will last forever, I took the 1800ES for the ride to work. Here a shot of the characteristic rear of the car.

Enjoy your weekend, gents.

I can't stop drooling over all your photos; all the cars are stunningly beautiful. The best I can do is a 2005 BMW Z4. Hardly a classic at this time, but I plan to keep it until I pop my clogs or become unable to drive it. There are only 65,000 km on the clock and it is stored in the garage all winter, i.e. early November to late April. Even whe I have it on the road I park it in the garage to limit the effect of sunlight on the soft top.

The picture below was taken last weekend while we had this golden october wheater in Denmark. As the ES is registred as Classic Car the period for driving it is limited to medio march to medio november.

I took advantage of the dry conditions to service the car before its winter rest. Beside a interior and exterior clean up, the car gets checked valve clearence, coolant/refrigerant and an oil change for engine, gearbox and final drive to be ready for the next season. See you in 2017, Gents.

That car is full of win

Beautiful car indeed. I think some were assembled in the UK by the Jensen Motor Co.

Thank you, Sir!
Yes you are right. The first 6000 P1800 coupes were built by Jensen in West Bromwich because Volvo used their plants in Sweden to produce the popular Amazon. P1800 Bodies were produced by Pressed Steel in Linwood, Scotland.

First during summer 1963 production moved to Sweden and the P1800 got added an "S" to its name and became the P1800S.
