New DIY handle, shame about knot...

Made a new handle, birch, good workability, closed grain so no problem with finish, shame about the knot though, a finest 2-band badger shedding big time, good news is I only use kindergarten quality glue to start with testing different lofts, so knot will be easy to remove for a switch, might go for a 26 mm synthetic next time (the all black and the brown from Yaqi are both tempting)

So far I have been working along the lines of, handle in wood = badger or boar knots, so using a synthetic knot would be a first.

It is a 27,5 mm finest 2band from I believe AceShaving in China but it has been two years now since buying this particular knot so probably nothing left in stock to avoid but Vigshaving might still be a safer bet if looking for badger knots.

Thanks, and yes, they're surely long gone by now. Both Vig and Maggard have great badgers at a great price too.

Nice handle!

I think that buying any knot from China you always take a bit of a chance. I've had a couple from Ace and both have been really good, but you just never know. Even manufacturers a lot closer to home aren't completely consistent.
