New Maseto brush

Discussion in 'Shaving Brushes' started by wayne mattison, Monday March 20, 2017.

  1. I'm happy with the results. I've loaded for a longer period and I got more lather.
I've shaken the brush a couple of times and I've also let it absorb the bloom water. It did foam a lot while loading. I've scooped the foam and put it in the bowl. I've also loaded the sides of the brush. I've added a few drops of water twice while whipping in the bowl.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I just didn't want to confuse matters, too many cooks etc...

  4. Great news I'm sure you will go on to produce great lathers from now on. You'll get to know what works for you. Well done.

Well my 30mm fan shape in horn arrived today and it seems very well put together with a lovely, even knot. Trouble is, I'm not convinced about the horn. Perhaps, I should have listened to my inner plain Jane and just ordered ivory. I swear, I am the very epitome of indecision! Or am I? Not sure now....

Do you good chaps think it would be bad form to send it all the way back to China just for a colour change otr should I stop mumping and just getting on with it.

Good to hear @Eurofighter is getting his lather issues resolved with better advice than I could ever give. Spoiled by wonderfully soft Scottish water, so I am.

Now, it is probably in this thread somewhere but I've looked and may have missed it but how soft is the silvertip compared the two band? My Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic has spoiled me for softness and the two band Maseto is rather scrubbier so I was considering silvertip instead? I very much like the look of the Atlanta with silvertip in butterscotch. Seems they have captured the colour well. I don't want plain yellow but neither do I want orangey caramel like some of the American brushes.

I have both and the Silvertip is a lot softer. Here's my thoughts on the Silvertip http://theshavingroom.co.uk/communi...ons-maseto-24mm-silvertip-badger-brush.44229/
