Newbie Pass Around

You are entitled to choose whichever course of action you wish, but here is my two-pennorth.
As yet, there is no, "disappearance", of the passaround box, the original one turned up with a very good reason which was a bereavement in the family of the then custodian of the box.
I would still give the current custodian the benefit of the doubt in the hope of its reappearance.

It's actually very hard to find an accurate non-accusatory phrase, but there has been neither sight nor sound of it for long enough

As for the new box, I believe that helping newcomers to wetshaving is more important than hoarding unwanted shaving stuff in my "den".

I actually share these honourable intentions having run 4 PIFs and contributed towards 2 Newbie Boxes over the last 2 years and applaud anybody else who does the same.

It is only the postage that will be of cost to me and I'm happy to bear that in order to allow the spirit that we hopefully share on here to infect others, after all, who doesn't remember when starting our journey, looking at the plethora of products available, with a look on our face not unlike that of your Nan looking at a Sky+ remote.
I would never condone the application of a deposit on my donation, as it is given freely, and without condition.
If a recipient decides to keep the whole box for himself, I would think no worse of him, he only has his conscience to answer to, and if he can square that circle, he is welcome to it

This I'm afraid is not how passarounds work. The clue is in the name. People generously do the same with rare and / or expensive razors. Are these up for grabs too?

A passaround is a loan, a PIF is a gift. Muddying the waters is not in anybody's interest.

Yeah, it's arguable,...the first one was passed on, so didn't go missing,...the two boxes were supposed to have been combined to reduce postage.
.....but yes,...it's only one box each.
I feel bad for BBA as Reaver said they'd received loads of stuff from them including shampoo and conditioner,....the two baldies must have the most luxuriant pubes in Scotland.

I've sent you a package. It will be with you tomorrow.

I'm afraid that it's how my passaround works, and I believe in giving folks the benefit of the doubt, until proven otherwise.
The apparent actions of the Scottish brothers doesn't diminish my faith in the integrity of the rest of the membership on here.

You should consider starting one then using your own unique rules and call it something entirely different so it's very clear to both potential donor and recipient that passing on the items for the benefit of others is really 'optional'

The integrity issue is totally separate. Standard passarounds rely upon it as do a lot of other things here. I too believe that 99+% of the membership here play with a straight bat, but making a concept which works and has clear boundaries, vague and ambiguous, just invites problems

I think I may well PIF or pass it forward ( wouldn't want to be seen as a child who could not be bothered to type the whole string of words in to the post) things that could have gone into a pass-around box, it's a shame that one or two people have taken advantage of the generous folk on here who have donated all sorts of shaving goods to what should have been a very good cause. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!

....Which is exactly what I am doing if you had actually read my post.
Sean,..this discussion isn't going to end well, so I suggest it ends here.
On second thoughts,..I am determined that it ends here.
