Option Five DE Razor

I ordered my Optionfive on Friday, and today (Monday) I got a mail to say it's been shipped. So far, so good: In the email it says "Track your shipment to see the delivery status"...er...How? There is no link as far as I can see. Other people were told that tracking was too expensive with free shipping, but I paid $13 for express delivery, and I'm a bit underwhelmed to find that there doesn't appear to be any way of tracking it to see where it is at any one time till it arrives.
Luckily I paid with Paypal, so if it doesn't arrive, I have 180 days to get my money back. It might be that I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but my experiences with non-trackeable shipping items has been less than stellar.
Ask me about german customs...no don't, please.
That is indeed the very reason why I paid extra for express in the first place, notwithstanding jokes about being an impatient bugger...:) Optionfive people, I am not impressed with your logistics :(

Mine took a week or so to Germany, no customs, no express.

No customs? that's good to hear, I tried to find out whether or not customs duty has to be paid for goods from Switzerland, without success. Thankyou, you've cheered me up no end :D Frohe Weihnachten!
Well, usually customs has to be paid for everything above 25,-€ as Switzerland is not part of EU. But this thing slipped through:)

It's a nightmare. I didn't pay anything extra for Switzerland to the UK, which I put down to the fact that Switzerland ( plus Norway etc. ) is an EFTA country, with different rules to imports from anywhere else in the world into the EU.

Maybe I'll get lucky too, because they have so much to do with the Christmas traffic :) Those greedy buggers at the German customs owe me a Christmas present

Hopefully the mail there is not impacted by the holiday to the same extent as over here. Never seen so many bad delays on inbound packages as in the past week and this one.

Switzerland is not part of EWR, that's where i.e. simplifications for import and export apply. norway for example is in the EWR, although they are not member of the EU. That might be an option also for UK (although thats not cheaper than beeing part of EU, but thats a different stroy :) if they ever really gonna exit the EU.

EFTA is of no relevance anymore.

The Swiss are not part of anything. They are Switzerland.

They are surrounded by EU, thats why border crossing into the EU is easy from switzerland ...the other way around going into Sswitzerland you might have to unload your whole car, open every box...

I once payed an awful amount of import tax and VAT into for an item bought in a swiss online shop and sent to Germany....which lets me think twice buying anything from Switzerland any more.

Well, thanks for cheering me up Kapitän fröhlich :D
I'd already suspected that the german state would be holding their greedy hands out this time as well. With all the tools and parts I've ordered from the USA, I've paid well over €1000 in customs and tax duty in 2016. Just for the Mergress alone (which they took ten f*cking days to process ), I had to pay €25.97! Grrr.... I think it's the case that under €150 you only have to pay 19% Tax, no customs duty. Which will mean only around €13, if my calculations are correct. Due to having no way of tracking the shipment (thankyou Optionfive for your utterly useless logistics), I have no way of seeing where it's got to. I'm waiting fir a Vision 2000 too from another forum member, but he's sending it from N.Ireland, which is still in the EU, at least until the Brexiteers get their act together :D

O5 shave no.2

Very smooth and very efficient shave with the new O5. The closeness is comparable to the Fatip Piccolo and RME15 I've used the last two days, but it feels much smoother on the skin during, and also the skin feels less strained after the shave.

I am almost angry how good it is, as I cannot justify any new acquaintances for practical reasons any more to myself... [emoji6]

That's good to hear, and makes me even more curious as to how it will be with my first shave. I'm counting the days till mine arrives. Maybe it'll come next week, I can't wait! How would you say the O5 compares to a progress? I mean, which setting on the progress corresponds to the O5?

On my progress its comparable to 2.5 on my mild side. I dont dial it higher as it gets bloody then. Blade gap and horizontal blade angle is asynchronous in my Progress (it has a mild and an aggressive side), hard to tell how it compares to yours.

That's the main reason I find my Mergress so good, apart from being able to see the settings better: because the Mergress is symmetrical on both sides. If the O5 is equivalent to 2.5 then I won't be using feather blades in it. I tried that today, and carved my chin up a treat :D
