Option Five DE Razor

The image is two halves posted on IG - hence the black 'band' in the middle of the razor

It's not every day we see a razor come out that is;
- Designed in England,
- Manufactured in China, and
- Based/Shipped out of Switzerland.

Will this new entry onto the wetshaving scene - "Option Five" - that borrows design from both cartridge and DE razor styles - make an international splash next year?

Quick data points

The razor has a rather unique look as far as DE razors goes;

The buttons on the side are for releasing the head (which by the way is designed in a way similar to Hone and Pils that hides the end-tabs of the blade. Maybe it's a European thing ;)).

Note:
I had a chance to chat live with John of Option Five earlier today and have provided him a link to this quick write-up so if there are any questions please feel free to ask away as John indicated he'd be happy to join and field any questions.

Maybe a forum pass-around, etc? ;)
Is this just not the "The Inscape Razor" as appeared on kickster but was not ssuccessful? https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-makes-shaving-slick?ref=category_ending_soon

same razor. however I am curious if they are going to still have that pre loaded disposable top cap thing...

and in the inscape kickstarter, it looks like they had a 2 blade version...

Actually very similar/same. This appears to be a metal version of it w/ some tweaks. I'm intrigued

Lol and thanks to @Mr Bigmem for remind me that a year and half ago I even spotted the Inscape on kickstarter and posted about it
I swear...too many razors....

If that kickstarter had sported this metal one I think they would have had an easier time meeting that funding goal.

Got a message that John from Option.Five is about to join us here so I thought I'd summarize some of the questions for him (but please add your own as well);

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
John (for when you sign up), here are some high-level questions for you;

1) What's your wetshaving/design background (as much as you feel comfortable disclosing),
2) Why did you go with the nickel alloy as material,
3) What are the dimensions (length and width) of the razor,
4) Can you explain the England-China-Switzerland connection :wink:,
5) Would you say this is a mild or aggressive razor,
6) Why the name Option.Five,
7) Is this a metal version of the Kickstarter Inscape razor from two years ago - and if so what are the changes between that model and this?

1) See n° 7

2) Why did you go with the nickel alloy as material,

Nickel alloy appeard to be the best compromise to have the final render we expected with a rustfree material. This nickel alloy also enabled us to meet the price range we settelled for the product. Btw we are really glad to see that you guys think that the price range we are adopting is sensible. Don't forget the promo code is still available fore a couple of weeks !

3) What are the dimensions (length and width) of the razor,

The razor is 11.5 cm (4.5 inch) long and 4.7 cm (1.6 inch) wide.

4) Can you explain the England-China-Switzerland connection :wink:,

The England China Switzerland collaboration is part of the myth, which is why it will remain a secret for the rest of time.

5) Would you say this is a mild or aggressive razor,

The product is built to give costumers the best shaving experience as possible. In fact, the product we are selling is aiming to accompany you during the first minutes/hours of your day.

Don't you think that every day should begin in a smooth way ? That's what our razor is all about ;) The Option Five razor will provide you with a mild smooth shaving experience

6) Why the name Option.Five,

Option five because the shaving process can be decomposed in five steps you guys will have to figure out ;)

7) Is this a metal version of the Kickstarter Inscape razor from two years ago - and if so what are the changes between that model and this?

The option five razor is base on the Inscape razor frame. However we decided to change the dimension of the product (smaller then original) to optimize the shaving expercience. The Inscape Razor creators abandonned the Idea of a plastic product which is why we are developping a product made of nickel.

8) For those who order some razor we are going to ship them in a few hours. ;)

Thanks for you interest, take care of your beard and down for the lady's!

Cheers

Hello early adopters!

We are on and ready to answer your questions. We are going to post the answer of the seven question above in a few minutes.

:)
Hi John, and welcome to the forum,
To help show folks see what a great razor your guys have made, would you consider putting one of them up for a passaround?

@riverrun i'm sure would be willing to help set it up. With his vast experience of running so many successful pass arounds this could be a very good introduction to the UK and wider market. what do you think?
