Didn't know that Loewy designed these two gems. Thanks. Great photo!

As an aside, in 1969, Porche came to my design school to recruit staff for their interiors department. Remarked that they were looking for chefs instead of the pastry makers that they had at the time. We foolishly declined an interview.

Several years later I owned a couple of 356's and remembered his remarks while looking at the cars bland interior. The head of Cadillac's interiors department was a graduate of the school, however.

I seem to work harder the older I get - which wasn't the plan - so most of my interests are nodding interests. I am a sucker for airshows, so looking forward to seeing the Thunderbirds at RIAT in July. I also enjoy vegetable gardening, which has been a hobby for the last dozen years and will endure when I retire. The magpie in me likes watches (I have a few); travel and cars can be a bit of a pull.
What kind of watches do you collect? I'm currently really enjoying my 80's youth again with vintage Casio digital watches

I have a few vintage Smiths, with a fondness for the 19 jewel Imperial, a few Seikos, including an unmolested Pogue - also Raymond Weil, Longines and Tag Heuer + a few others e.g. Poljot, Citizen Eco Drive etc. I reckon I have around 20 watches. I keep saying I'll post some pics and I will.
You'll probably know the dealers who specialise in vintage digitals, but I'll try to fish out some links

Knives, specifically UK legal penknives. Only a small collection as I try to make sure they are all useable and I refuse to spend loads of cash on it.
Just starting out on astronomy I have binoculars and a 'cheap' telescope. So far my best sighting is the thin crescent of Venus, a bit 'sequiny' but clear enough.

I spent three fabulous years at Nellis AFB, home of the Thunderbirds. They are very very good at what they do and unlike the Red Arrows not full of their own self importance.

I changed jobs a few months ago and swapped a 2-hour plus daily car commute for a 12-minute cycle ride each way. I started on an old mountain bike that had been in the garage (unbidden) for over 10 years but, inevitably, an upgrade was needed and I now have a Specialized Sirrus Crosstrail Elite for commuting.

Of course, one bike was clearly not enough and I now have a Dawes Galaxy tourer as well. I've told the Mem Sahib that these purchases are entirely justified as I don't spend much on shaving kit...

Seriously, I'm really enjoying the cycling and have seen my weight, resting heart and blood pressure fall as my well-being has increased.

I also enjoy fly-fishing and am looking forward to the weather warming up a bit before heading to Wales or Devon.

Any links would be gratefully received! Many thanks.

The fact that they fly the F-16 hasn't got me in the least bit excited  I live not far from RAF Waddington - very sad to lose that airshow for, in my view, somewhat spurious reasons. Whether I'll head to Scampton is in the air :p at the mo ...

This might be a bit too early: http://70s-watches.com
or what about: http://www.retro-watches.co.uk
There's another one in the back of my mind, which I'll try to remember.
I recall having a digital watch in the 70s and riding home from school, in the rain, on my Carlton cycle - only to find that the display had, due to 'water ingress', gone T!T5 up and invented its own language ... o_O
