Active Pass Around: Fatboy

The Fatboy has arrived with me. It is still looking good after all those years.
I'll give it another spin and then pass it on to @Liocer

Nice :D Looking forward to that.

I've had a shave with the Fatboy today and I have to report that it is still every bit as good as I remembered it. I can't really say why it is such a joy to use. It just feels right.
The razor is still in good nick given that it has seen plenty of action. It is 57 years old and has spent the last 5 years being passed around. A great piece of engineering.
It's a privilege to look after this pass around.
If you haven't tried one - you should. For free. Sign up.

Andreas, I'll go straight after Liocer if that's ok? Think I'll have enough gap between pass arounds to make that alright now!
Of course. No one else in the gap.

I had the first disappointing shave with the Fatboy today.
I have never used it on 1 before and I don't recommend it unless you like your razors very mild (read: inefficient). The Fatboy needed four passes to get where other razors get in two. On a positive note: The alum block and after shave didn't sting at all.
Yesterday's shave was on 5 and tomorrow I'll give it a go on 9.

I had my first shave on 9 with the Fatboy.
Not something I will do again. While my face is very smooth, I managed to nick my upper lip.
My fault. I know. Even so, there was far too much blade feel for my taste, even with no pressure.
For me somewhere around 5 seems to be the Goldilocks zone - just right.
I hope to have time for a little photo shoot tomorrow (even if it will have to be at the Thames Barrier... again), then one more shave on 5 and then the journey continues...

I haven't been through all 39 pages in this thread, but I don't think anyone has posted any pictures of our Fatboy. At least not recently. As you can see, it's still in good nick, although most of the paint has gone from the numbers on the dial.

I had one final shave with the Fatboy on 5 and what a fine shave it was again.
I used a Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge blade I found in the box. I have great memories of this blade and the shave confirmed this. Sharp and smooth. I planned to indulge myself and use the blade again in the Fatboy, but then I found out that the pass around ↪Barbaros Rocnel Adjustable razor is out for delivery.
The blade is now parked in my Merkur 45, the Fatboy has been cleaned, disinfected and packaged, ready to continue its journey to @Liocer
Is there a non-adjustable Gillette TTO that shaves and handles like the Fatboy on 5? My Aritocrat #66 (which I won in the raffle) is 7.5g lighter and has a different balance. And it's in such good condition that I hardly dare shave with it. Aristocrat #16 maybe? Seems to have a similar weight.

The Fatboy is on its way to @Liocer. Bon voyage, old chap.
