Closed ***Ended*** Pass Around: Schick Adjustable Injector ***Ended***

Ok so as stated the razor arrived yesterday so I waited for a lil longer and just had my first shave with it.
My set up was
  • Prep: hot water face wash
  • Pre: Nuagé shave oil
  • Brush: 24mm Plissoft hot soaked
  • Cream: Fragrance Free KMF
  • Lather method: Steel shave bowl in mug of hot water (scuttle style)
  • Razor: Schick adjustible dailed to 9
  • Blade: Personna
  • Shave: 2-pass and clean up (WTG, ATG)
  • Post: Cold water wash, Thyers rose witchhazel
  • Aftershave: Rose of Bulgaria
Ok so cold weather this morning drove me to want a warm lather shave and my diy bowl in mug never fails. So locked loaded warm lathered and ready I was. Started slow as i've never used an adjustable razor of any kind nor an injector of any line might I add. @riverrun had offered up advice which I took on hand but as we know YMMV. So with this info and apprehension I took the first stroke of my first pass. Then my second then it all just flowed. I didn't even do an across the grain as I was mowing down so nicely on a with that I jumped right over to an against the grain and yep very nice in deed. Some blade sound not like my 1912 but some. What can I say i'm impressed, it a very nice razor. Finding the angle was somehow intuitive even tho i've not used this style of blade or shape head or razor. I've used a few styles of razors recently including as said a 1912 various DE's, shavettes and my beloved oneblade lol and this razor is coming up past the DE's that are reported on par with aggression with the adjustable. It is so much easier and more smoother and more nibble to use. Yes its lighter weight but that doesn't always correlate. I got a much more close, smooth, fast and fun shave with this razor and a personna (which on reading isn't the best of the injector blades) than any DE i've used to date. Its prob on level neck with my 1912 but the injector prob pips it as its lighter and handles better IMO. So dialed in at 9 all the way I got one lil cut slight weeper cos I really went in to deep, but 2 pass BBS first time! I've only ever done a 2 pass BBS on first shave with one other razor todate which professed to be not aggressive, and that was my oneblade. The thing that still topped it for with my oneblade was I couldn't cut myself if I tried, the spring takes away some of the pressure that I faltered slightly with this razor. Some might say that makes this razor as good as my oneblade by my own word as I didn't take care. But I still need to give it another go. Well i'll try one of the NOS Schick blades @Macaronus lovingly added to the box next and see what happens, i'll even do a lil homage to @Fergiebilly and go all tallow on it. so for now very impressed. I'm thinking I need to try a slightly more aggressive injector and most definitely the injector I most want to try the floating head.

Ok third shave with the adjustable this morning. For the keen of eye you'd have noticed i've only posted up about shave 1 as shave 2 was just a clean up around my neck and lip yesterday and as I still had the personna blade loaded. Didn't want to waste up and jump into the NOS Shicks.

set up Today is what I call a warm bed of roses
  • Prep: hot water face wash
  • Pre: Nuagé shave oil
  • Brush: 24mm Plissoft hot soaked
  • Cream: Rose of Bulgaria (placed the tube in a mug of hot water before to get nice and warm)
  • Turkish rose water heated up and used to make my lather
  • Lather method: Steel shave bowl in mug of hot water (scuttle style)
  • Razor: Schick adjustible dailed to 7 (following on from @Fergiebilly advice)
  • Blade: Dutch made Nos Schick Platinum
  • Shave: hybrid 2 pass (WXATG)
  • Post: Cold water wash, Thyers rose witchhazel
  • Balm: Rose of Bulgaria
  • Scent: MANCERA - Roses Vanille edp
So as you can see I went all out in rose today and gave myself a very lovely warm comforting shave with a twist to BBS

So the razor is as @Fergiebilly said perfect at 7 has the right balance with blade exposure and comfort, so much so that I did a very novel hybrid shave with different grain angles in each of my 2 passes. Some might call it shorter passes but I stop in a pass and change to the most effective of wtg xtg atg for that area of my face, works very well if you've really mapped and know the lay of your whisker. So the NOS Schick blades are ok but I think this blade might have been a dud as having heard the rave reviews I didn't find it to be better than the Personnas, felt a fair bit of a pull at points, which as said I put down to a dud blade. I will give myself 3 days and have my final shave with Persona even tho I want to try another Nos Schick I don't want to hog lol.
So i'm now even more certain this is a top 5 razor and prob at number 2 just bellow my oneblade. Its my happy medium between my carts and de/se shaving. And I so want to try the floatin head injector and the twin blades now oh so much lol

You are incorrigible sir, and a very naughty boy! Playing with our minds and making us spend our money.....now point me at a good injector and watch me run for my wallet lol
I don't see how I am to blame. I have bought just one razor in the last year, the Merkur 45, and it cost me less than 20 quid (worth every penny five times over - the best DE razor out there. YMMV - I'm not encouraging anyone to buy this razor). If I can exhibit this level of self-control I expect others to be able to do the same. Pass arounds were invented as a way to use a plethora of razors without spending money on buying them, or something like that. :D
On the subject of injectors, you already know one you like. Get one. Otherwise, any injector from Type I onwards is similar. Don't bid on N3 or O models. They are mine and you can't afford the Type O anyway.
:D

Lol i'll hunt down all the N3 and O models and hoard then put them in a time capsule and send you the pics lol. But seriously I really want to wait for a floating head. I tend to wait for one type of razor for my den at a time. So I have my merkur 34c for my DE, my 1912 for my SE Gem, have a hawk on the way for my feather SE, have my Oneblade at the top and when I get a floating head it will sit shit along side my oneblade to rule over all lol. Oh yea a collection of carts as well mostly gillette.
